Gion Bread

Gion bread from Jusco Midvalley. I believe someone who have tested this bread before from the sample counter outside Jusco midvalley (La Bahome) but shocked when they announced the price. From the look, the bread looks like normal bread. The bread is very tasty and full of butter flavour. Once you taste it you would think that this is the best bread you ever tasted. But according to an article in the Internet, the bread is made from high quality vegetable oil without any butter. The whole loaf of bread is slightly larger than the Gardenia jumbo pack and it is heavy.

Taste:10/10(Excellent. The bread is very tasty and full of butter taste. Not too salty nor too sweet, just nice and soft. It taste even better if you put inside oven to reheat it).
Price:3/10(Expensive. This bread is priced at RM25 for the whole loaf and RM12.50 for half loaf. Perviously, it is priced at RM18).

Half loaf of Gion bread.

This is how the Gion bread look like.

p/s: Please find out whether Carrefour Midvalley is actually selling the original Gion bread at RM18. The Jusco version is the imitation. I will check it out when I go to Midvalley again.

Comments:

  1. The one in Jusco mid valley at RM25 wanted to sell this bread to me without any brand or wordings on their plastic bag. They refused to give me
carrying bag too. I did not buy finally. All "Bologne" logo at their store taken down. Strange! The cashier told me they have violated trade regulations. The one in Carrefour showed me documentary proof of original such as the date of their Halal certificate 2006. Convinced and I bought one home.

  3. hey, was at MV last night and dropped by Carrefour! I was delighted to see the familiar packaging of my favourite bread again ( White plastic bag with GION on it just like the picture shown on this blog)and at the original price!! Previously, i bought the imitation ones from Jusco and it didn't taste as nice too!! I didn't suspect anything about it because they used the same compnay name, Bo-log'ne SDN BHD. No wonder the trade officer raided their stall. Seriously, how could JUSCO allow their supplier to do such thing, misleading the public! Anyway, i'm glad i found my GION bread again! Thanks Boon Chuan!

  4. ya, Jusco one at RM25 per loaf claimed that all ingredients they used are from Japan. But i remembered once at promotion they told us that Japan is selling at RM40 equivalent. How can this be? It should be more then! I think not true.

  6. come on, definitely not true! No company will import all ingredients.
It is not competitive at all. They try to bullsh then you would accept RM25 price.

  9. thank you for all of your kindly support to GION Bread..
Firstly, Bolo'gne Sdn Bhd would love to clarify that we used to sell in Jusco in 2006-mid 08'.

Currently, the one sold in Jusco is merely an imitation to our product, you can probe into that by asking for the HALAL cert..which is certified by the johore state's authority rather
    than JAKIM..

We have been selling for almost three years and have not change or increase any price since the fuel hike and occurance of the recession period. Packaging & leaflets had not change throughout the years (http://selinaooi.blogspot.com/2008/07/gion-bread-kyoto.html)

last but not least, thank you once again for supporting us and we apologize for the inconvenience caused and the mislead of misinterpretation.

We are currently selling at Carrefour(mid valley & Mid Valley), Atria(D'jaya), Leisure mall(cheras) and soon Cold storages.

P/s: come try our new product- Wholemeal bread.
