Hokkien Noodles & Fried Wanton Noodles @ Pulau Tikus, Penang

At first I thought hokkien noodles is like the stir fry noodles broad noodles with black soy sauce like in KL. But hokkien noodles in Penang is actually prawn noodles. I would think the Penang hokkien noodles served in this Pulau Tikus shop is quite good although my other food trip members thinks the other way. Maybe this is my first time having it.

Taste:8/10(Delicious. The soup base and the prawn plus some pork is good and I like this type of hokkien noodles compared to the ones in KL).
Price:6/10(Moderate. I would think the price of RM4 is a bit high for a bowl of noodles).

Muar Chee (Glutinous rice peanut) @ Penang

Taste:9/10(Delicious. This dessert is good. The peanut was roasted until the right aroma and the glutious rice was warm. Good combination).
Price:8/10(Cheap. RM2 for small portion and RM2.50 for big portion).

This is the place near Pulau Tikus that sells muar chee.

The way muar chee was made is totally different from my home town. Here, the sticky glutinous will stick the crushed peanut outside. While, in my home town, the crushed peanut was wrapped in glutinous rice.

Uncle super fast skill preparing muar chee.

Well done final product. Glutinous rice, peanuts & sugar.

Durian @ Balik Pulau, Penang

The trip to this area is indeed very far from the Penang airport. Thanks to one of my colleagues that has Penang map in his mind, our trip is smooth and well arranged.

Taste:9/10(Delicious. The taste of the Penang 'udang galah' species of durian is good and different than others).
Price:4/10(Near expensive. The durian sold at RM12 per kg).

Can't wait to taste it.

Wow... look at the flesh.

Jump Seat Experience in ATR 72-500 Plane

This is my first time to have the opportunity to sit on jump seat in a plane. Jump seat is an auxiliary crew station, is a seat in an aircraft cockpit for individuals not operating the aircraft. From there you can see how pilots operates an plane and heard their conversation over to the control tower. The best part to see is during the landing session when you can see the plane approaching the landing lane and pilots do the necessary preparation to land.

Pinang Peranakan Mansion @ Church Street, Penang

After having a good breakfast, our food trip group went to this mansion to have a glimpse of the history and heritage of Penang Babas community.

Introduction:
The Peranakans, also known as the Babas and Nyonyas, was a prominent community of acculturated Chinese unique to this part of the world, especially in the Straits Settlements (Penang, Malacca and Singapore) hence its other name, the Straits Chinese. Adopting selected ways of the local Malays and later, the colonial British, the Peranakans had created a unique lifestyle and customs which had not only left behind a rich legacy of antiques but its cultural influences like cuisine and language are still evident in Penang today.

At the Pinang Peranakan Mansion, the typical home of a rich Baba of a century ago is recreated to offer a glimpse of their opulent lifestyle and of their many customs and traditions. With over 1,000 pieces of antiques and collectibles of the era on display, this Baba-Nyonya museum is also housed in one of Penang’s heritage mansion of eclectic design and architecture. Built at the end of the 19th century by one of local history’s famous personalities, the ‘Hai Kee Chan’ or Sea Remembrance Store had once served as the residence and office of Kapitan Cina Chung Keng Kwee. Though not a Baba himself, his Chinese courtyard house was much like a typical large Baba home of eclectic style, incorporating Chinese carved-wood panels and English floor tiles and Scottish ironworks. Having survived the many decades of neglect and decay, the mansion has now been restored to its former glory of a stately home.
