Scenery Around Jugra, Selangor

After having tummy full with seafood and steamed buns, we take a walk and enjoy the scenery on top of Bukit Jugra. The first time I came to Banting, I missed out this place as during that time, there was a paragliding event held there.

This photo was taken from the Viking Seafood Restaurant using my 250mm lens.

Some sort of camp. Nice view with river bank.

The ships on the Straits of Malacca.

A house in the middle of jungle.

Green...

Bukit Jugra light house.

Maybe this is river Klang?

A lot of these building in Banting for bird nest farming.

Hai Yew Hin (steamed buns) @ Tanjung Sepat, Selangor

Getting to this place from my place in Klang is quite far (66 km). I come to this place as I already in Banting at this time and I don't want to miss the famous steamed buns (pau) in Tanjung Sepat. According to my colleague, I must come here early (before 12) to get my pau, if not it will be brought by all the tourist from tour buses which pass by there. Somehow, it quite true though. Initially my mom buy four pau(s), but then decided to buy another two, only to find out that all the pau preferred by my mom sold out! It is just within 2-3 minutes.

Taste:9/10(Delicious. The pau does indeed different. The texture is more springy and preserved vegetable pau is new for me. It was good. No residue (flour) left on the table!).
Price:7/10(Moderate. Their pau price is on par with the ones in most places. This pau however is hand made though. That's what makes it different. A meat pau cost RM2.00, preserved vegetable at RM1.80 and red bean at RM1.10).

Non-Halal.

Look for this shop in Tanjung Sepat.

Each pau is prepared by hand. The texture is different from those prepared from machine made pau.

The pau looks shiny and yellowish. Most modern prepared pau looks white. Maybe something added to make it white. My mom once prepared pau and it just looks the same yellowish colour.

Meat pau and preserved vegetable pau.

Still looks nice after peeling the skin.

The best part is that there is no bun skin dropping of while eating it.

Now you know why their popularity is getting better... Introduced by Axian and Hong Kong 'fatty boy'.

So many reviews on this shop!

Opposite shop is for bulk purchase.

Eat the next day at home. Their red bean bun.

Preserved vegetable bun.

Beggar's Pork Trotter @ Jugra, Banting, Selangor

This is a famous eating place in Jugra, Banting. They don't entertain any walk-in dine in. You must do advance booking before you can eat at this place. Booking must be at least 24 hours before you come to this shop. Although, this place is famous for their beggar's chicken, but most of my friends said that their chicken is not that good. Their best item is beggar's pork trotter. I ask my colleague to book in advance for take away today.

Taste:10/10(Excellent. The pork trotter is flavourful and herbs & spices aroma is absorbed into the pork trotter. They used a lot of roasted garlic, chinese herbs, spices & dark soy sauce. The dish is wrapped using paper, aluminium foil, plastic, another layer of paper then covered by a layer of clay. This cooking method makes the meat dry and retain its own original flavour).
Price:6/10(Moderate. I would rate this dish as moderate as a lot of preparation is needed and the portion is quite big. They price this pork trotter at RM51 per packet. You will get the whole pig leg prepared with chinese herbs and spices in the packet. I think their beggar's chicken is over-priced at RM48 per chicken. Logically, chicken is far more cheaper than one pork trotter but it only cheaper by RM3).

Non-halal.

This is where they cook. Under the stones, clay and hot ashes.

Clay to wrap outer layer of paper.

No idea what is this. But I think it is charcoal.

This is the famous Axian programme on Astro which recommends this place to the viewers. This traditional prepared beggar's dishes restaurant became more famous after featured in the TV programme.

This is their list of price for each item.

This restaurant only have this board to introduce itself!

Look for this also.

This is the beggar's pork trotter that I took away.

Unwrapped the first layer of newspaper.

Unwrapped the second layer of paper. Now you will see clay. By removing the clay, there is another layer of paper. Remove the paper and you will see the pork trotter wrapped in plastic sheet then covered by paper and aluminium foil.

This is the final product I get.

Nearer...

Assam Laksa @ Air Itam Market, Penang

Located at the foot hill of Kek Lok Si, beside wet market, this stall is famous for its assam laksa. It was so famous until the shop owner non-stop in preparing the dishes for visitors.

Taste:10/10(Excellent. Loaded with all the necessary ingredient that the best assam laksa should have. Thick fish gravy, peppermint, bunga kantan, prawn paste, spicy chili, onions, cucumber, lettuce and of course dried assam).
Price:8/10(Cheap. Priced at RM2.70 per bowl).

Just prepared assam laksa.

After mixed well. So much fish meat.

Assam Laksa @ Balik Pulau, Penang

The stall is located at the corner coffeeshop next to the Balik Pulau market.

Taste:9/10(Delicious. Assam laksa is topped with a generous amount of fish, with cucumber, onions, pineapple, mint and prawn paste. The rice noodles are nice and the soup is good. They have siamese laksa which is also good. Siamese laksa is quite similiar to assam laksa but with coconut milk added so it is thicker but less sour. The assam laksa spicyness however is less appealing).
Price:8/10(Cheap. Priced as RM2.70 per bowl).

You can see that this assam laksa is different than Air Itam version.

After mixed and captured from near.

Fullhouse @ NZX, Ara Damansara, Petaling Jaya

Located at NiuZeXui(NZX)(Ngau che sui), Ara Damansara, this place is rather difficult to find if you not familiar to this new place. Has been in operation for around 9 months, this cafe follow all the concept from Fullhouse drama series. Today, my lunch food kakis was looking for a change and we settled for this place after long argument.

Taste:6/10(Moderate. The taste of the dory fish that I ordered is just ok and nothing to shout about. The chicken chop portion is not standardize and this annoy one of my colleague as he get a smaller portion compared to others. Dessert is durian cake which is just normal. The service is just so-so).
Price:4/10(Near expensive. Each set lunch cost between RM14 to RM18. Bear in mind that this cost does not include tax yet. The lunch set comes with mushroom soup, drink, main course & dessert).

This cafe follows all the concept from Korean Fullhouse drama series.

Nice internal decoration.

Fullhouse also have its own lifestyle store which sells clothes and collectables.

Creative. Their menu look like magazine.

Cartoonish style menu.

Set lunch drinks.

Dory fish set lunch.
