Batu Caves @ Gombak, Selangor

Batu Caves is the most popular Hindu shrines outside India which is dedicated to Lord Murugan. This place gets very crowded during the Thaipusam festival which always falls on month of January. The gathering can reach up to 1.5 million pilgrims. It is simpler to go to Batu Caves now as you can take KTM Komuter to reach there. Its recommended to come here in the morning as you might not want to climb the 272 steps of steep stair in the hot sun. Besides enjoying nice scenery over here, you can have a good exercise session too. Hong Kong has its own Giant Buddha but Malaysia has its own more exotic Lord Murugan of Batu Caves. It has been a while I didn't visit to this place. I took my trainer from US here as he like cultural & history stuff. It brings back good memories as I been here twice before with my friends.

Entrance shrine at Batu Caves.

Great view of Batu Caves. The Lord Murugan statue was unveiled in January 2006.

To reach the cave, you must climb 272 steps.

Reached Temple Cave.

Devotees queue up at Sri Velayuthar Swamy temple.

Beautiful lighting from the cave opening.

What are you looking at?

Monkey god. Just like what is in the legend.

Flock of pigeons. Its just nice.
