Awesome authentic Kelantanese cuisine from Kesom Cafe @ Aman Suria, Petaling Jaya

Kesom Cafe located in Aman Suria is a small cafe serving Kelantanese food. They are famous for nasi kerabu, nasi dagang and a few types of sweet dessert. The taste is good and different compared to other Kelantanese restaurant that I tried. Their food is more aromatic and using quality ingredients. I went there to tried their nasi kerabu and I like it so much that I take away their weekend speciality which is khao jam. I had good khao jam in Kota Bahru before but I can't find it elsewhere in Klang Valley other than in Kesom Cafe.

Taste:9/10(Delicious. Nasi kerabu and khao jam here does taste great. Aromatic and flavourful. Their fish floss were good. Khao jam/herbs rice were cooked to perfection with strong herbal taste with adequate ingredients).
Price:6/10(Moderate. Plain nasi kerabu at MYR8.00 and khao jam at MYR9.00. If you would like their fried chicken, do top up another MYR5.00. Serai pandan tea at MYR3.00. Second glass refill at MYR0.50).

Mongolian steamboat from Xiao Fei Yang (XFY) Steamboat restaurant @ Damansara Utama, Petaling Jaya

Xiao Fei Yang is a chain restaurant serving spicy ma la style of steamboat. Their soup is delicious and flavourful. They have many ingredients to choose to put into the soup eg sliced mutton, special pork balls, fried fish skin and dumplings. I do enjoy the sauces area where you can mix different kind of sauces and ingredients to eat it with your food. Other than the hidden charges, this place has good food to savour.

Taste:8/10(Good. No doubt that their soup is the main attraction. Do go for combination soup of ma la and herbal soup. In the ma la soup you can eat much of the ingredients and spices there. Good to increase body heat. Make sure to order their fried fish skin and special pork balls).
Price:5/10(Near expensive. Even though their soup is great, they charge MYR24.00 for it. Make sure you drink the soup a lot and finish the ingredient inside there. Also, you may noticed that their bowls, spoons, chopsticks are sealed in a wrapper for hygiene purposes. They charge those wrapper for MYR1.00 each. For me, it's weird that they charge it that way. The tea they charge by the number of person even though we ordered 1 pot. Prices for all the ordered items as below: slices mutton at MYR21.00, sliced pork at MYR14.00, home made pork ball at MYR9.00, fish noodles at MYR8.00, dumplings at MYR8.00 and vegetables at MYR6.00 for each plate).

Tasty fish noodles from SK Seafood Noodles Restaurant @ Bukit Tinggi, Klang

SK seafood noodles restaurant is located quite hidden from main road in Bukit Tinggi, Klang. If you don't specifically look for it, you won't be able to find it as the surrounding new shop lots are quite abandoned. However, the trip to this restaurant is quite worth it as the fish noodles here is quite delicious. For those who don't like milk in your fish noodles, then this is a perfect choice for you. Their fish noodles soup is quite unique and you have two choice with either traditional soup base with tomatoes and yam version. I particularly like the yam version as you can taste the richness of meshed yam in the soup. The fish which comes with the noodles were fresh and cooked to perfection. They also have other varieties of seafood dishes such as prawn, porridge, pork chop, fish head & curry fish.

The fish noodles soup goes well with their spicy prawn paste chili sauce dip. If you don't like plain fish meat, they also have fried fish meat version and fish head).

Decent Japanese sushi at Ichiro Sushi Bar @ Eat Paradise, One Utama, Petaling Jaya

Ichiro sushi bar is a decent Japanese restaurant located at upper floor of Isetan in One Utama. Usually food in shopping malls don't serve great food but Ichiro is different from the rest. The food here is fresh and prepared by Japanese chef which is rare sight in Japanese restaurant nowadays. Another good thing about Ichiro is sometimes they serve seasonal items and some of the fishes are not found in the mainstream Japanese Restaurants.
