French dining at Topshelf @ Taman Tun Dr Ismail, Kuala Lumpur

Topshelf is a French restaurant located in Taman Tun Dr Ismail, Kuala Lumpur. Always wanted to try out this place but don't have chance until the Christmas eve night when I happen to be there with my mom. The food were good and some dishes above expectation. This is a nice and cosy restaurant. You can see the chef in action as the kitchen just behind a glass wall.

Taste:9/10(Delicious. I like two of their dishes the most. The pan seared salmon belly and mushroom soup with truffle. Both are well done and taste very good. As for the crispy aromatic duck, its not that crispy but the meat is tender. Taste wise is good with combination with the sauce and vegetables. The dessert of dark chocolate mousse is creative and well thought).
Price:3/10(Expensive. Since this is a fine dining restaurant, the price is at a higher side. Salmon belly at MYR30.00, mushroom soup with truffle at MYR25.00, pan seared catch of the day at MYR44.00, dark chocolate mousse at MYR26.00 and crispy aromatic duck at MYR38.00. Service and environment in the restaurant is good. One item which I think that they need to improve is that they don't provide plain water as drink option. They trying to lure their customer to drink their pricey mineral water. Its a bit let down for foodie who come here for food and plain water is the most basic necessity that each restaurant should provide either for free or with a small fee. The food selection were not many during Christmas eve as they have predefined set menu).

Nice and cosy environment.

Common sight in fine dining restaurant.

Hot chocolate.

Crispy aromatic duck served with pancakes, raw cucumber and sweet sauce.

Pan seared catch of the day with leeks, fennel barigoule and white wine.

Bartender area.

Pan seared salmon belly. The texture is so good and it melts in your mouth. Full of fish oil.

Porky lunch set at The Barn @ Citta Mall, Ara Damansara

The Barn open its 4th outlet in Citta Mall recently. I think its a good move since Citta Mall lack of drinking and pork eating place. With many high end residences around the area and expatriates, there are demand for such restaurant. Looks like this will be my favourite eating place. On the second day of opening, we try out their executive lunch set. Good ambiance for business lunch and to chill out.

Taste:8/10(Good. I had their bak kut teh. Its not bad for a Western restaurant to serve bak kut teh. The meat is tender and good. Taste wise is good but of course cannot beat Klang bak kut teh. The bak kut teh comes with all the necessary condiments such as garlic and chili padi. I tasted the fries, soup and salad. All good. The soup taste good but just a bit oily. Pork burger and fish & chips are delicious).
Price:6/10(Moderate. The promo lunch set is good deal and comes with free soup and salad. Lunch set from 12.00pm until 3.00pm. Lunch set price from MYR19.00 to MYR25. Steak set lunch price is higher. If you come in group, then you will have a better deal as you will get one lunch set free from 4 lunch set ordered).

Good place to eat and drink.

Nice bar.

Many seats arrangement to suit your needs.

Pork tomato soup.

Salad and fruits included as part of lunch set.

Salad area. Huge wines selection.

Claypot bak kut teh.

The bak kut teh order comes with rice, garlic and chili.

Bak kut teh comes with many parts of meat.

Fish & chips portion is big.

Pork and bacon burger. The fries taste good as well.

Yummy pork burger with charcoal bread.

Rock Chop food delivery

Rock Chop is a new food delivery option in Klang Valley. I am among their first customer to try out this food option. Rock Chop is actually a budget option of dahmakan. Its a bit hard for dahmakan to drop their price since they have probably sold many food packages and its better for them to cater for more premium market segment. The new Rock Chop food quality however, is not up to my expectation. The price is slightly lower about RM15 which is RM6 less, but the food options are mostly fried, less healthy and lesser quality when compared to dahmakan. The food options are not interesting and can be easily get from the economical rice stalls. The options that they have are salted butter chicken, kung pao chicken, sweet & sour chicken, orange chicken and cashew chicken.

Taste:5/10(So-so. The salted butter chicken ordered were soggy and oily. Cheese cake were watery at the bottom. Taste rather normal and nothing to shout about).
Price:5/10(Near expensive. The quality of food is under expectation. For RM15 meal, the food quality is far lesser when compared to dahmakan. Most of the menu are fried which I doubt the freshness of the ingredients used. No vegetable option from the menu is also a drawback. Quantity wise is good).

Ordered Rock Chop salted butter chicken. Simpler packaging compared to dahmakan.

Presentation wise is ok. I do like the bigger rice portion.

Chicken however a bit soggy and taste normal.

Come with free cheese cake which is watery at the bottom.
