Japan Airlines flight Tokyo to Shanghai - Economy class

This is my first time travelling on Japan Airlines(JAL) flight. The trip is from Tokyo to Shanghai and the airline is using Boeing 767-300ER aircraft. This routes seems to cater more for business people as I could see the majority of the people who are travelling on this flight look like businessmen and age above 40. The overall experience is great and I enjoyed the meal. The seat however is a bit small.

Taste:8/10(Good. The meal provided is unique with combination of Chinese & Japanese meal. There is menu provided to indicate each item.)

This is how my lunch box look like. The menu from top left clockwise: deep fried pork with sweet chili sauce, egg omelette with simmered shitake and carrot, simmered dried white radish shred and okra, pickled cucumber with shiso, seafood dumpling with ginger sauce and marinated jellyfish salad with vinegared lotus root.

The main meal. Braised bean curd with minced meat Chinese style served with steamed rice.

Full complete set of meal.

Having Haagen-Dazs ice-cream banana flavour as dessert.

Menu provided. Good for those who are having allergy to avoid certain food item. Please enjoy on board as they are very delicate :-)

Kuala Lumpur to Tokyo (Narita) on economy class via Malaysia Airlines - Sakura season

Kuala Lumpur to Tokyo is a popular route especially during the sakura season. All this while, I still haven't experience any sakura season in Japan. So, I take this opportunity and a good timing to fly to Tokyo to feel the sakura and to indulge my craving for Japanese food. The journey took 7 hours. The flight time by Malaysia Airlines were good as they fly from Kuala Lumpur during midnight and arrive Tokyo early morning. With this plan, you can save hotel stay for 1 day and you have whole day to explore Tokyo when you arrive there. Since this is a mid long distance flight, one and a half full meal provided. After take off, you will be given tuna sandwich. You will be served with full breakfast when the flight is about to land in Tokyo.

Rating:8/10(Good. The tuna sandwich is good with adequate portion and full hearty Western breakfast meal. The seat is comfortable throughout the 7 hours journey).

Tuna sandwich with tomato slices and cucumber.

Full breakfast set.

This time I tried their Western breakfast instead of choosing nasi lemak. Omelette, sausage, potato wedges and grilled tomato.

Onboard Boeing 777. During this sakura season, the flight is almost full.

Reached Narita International Airport.

Hello Kitty baggage tag by Eva Air - Taipei to Kuala Lumpur (Economy Class)

There are 3 full service airlines flying between Taipei and Kuala Lumpur. This time, I plan to try out Eva Air as they have good timing. Departs in the morning at 940am and I am able to reach home by afternoon. Other airlines would be Malaysia Airlines and China Airlines. You should take Malaysia Airlines if you plan to have another lunch in Taipei. They departs from Taipei at around 3.30pm. While China Airlines timing is too early for me. Overall good experience on Eva Air. Good food and pretty flight stewardess :-P

Hello Kitty on baggage tag!

Food by Eva Air. Main dish is the chicken with rice. Apple and honeydew. Corn and lettuce salad. Sesame sweet cake as dessert.

Again rice with scallion.

Snack packet with green beans and crackers.

Standard economy class cabin. Nothing extraordinary.

Malaysia Airlines - Kuala Lumpur to Paris (Economy Class)

After touching ground for 6 months in Malaysia, suddenly the idea of visiting the largest flower garden comes into my mind. The world largest flower garden situated in Lisse, Holland offered the best flower view in the world for almost 50 years now. Keukenhof is my favourite flower garden. Since it only open 2 months a year from end of Mar to end of May, I need to plan this trip soonest possible.

Initially, my idea is just to visit Amsterdam. But since Paris is just within 3 hours away by bullet train, I may just as well visit it. Since I am going to Paris on standby basis, my seat is not confirmed. Its quite tough to get the seat to Paris during end of April 2012 as most of the flight is full and Malaysia Airlines only have one flight a day. On my first attempt of standby, I disappointed as the flight was full and I have to go back home midnight via airport taxi. On my second attempt, I took bus to the airport and I manage to get a seat last minute as there is no show passenger. Yahoo! Anyway, this flight is really a long journey. It takes more than 13 hours from Kuala Lumpur to reach Paris Charles de Gaulle airport. The flight to Paris was pleasant without much turbulence. The meal served is just like other Malaysia Airlines long distance flight.

Since this is a ultra long haul, two full meals provided. My first meal is soy sauce chicken and vegetables with rice. Comes with raw salmon, fruits, sweets, bun and butter.

Second meal is always breakfast. My favourite selection is always their nasi lemak. Anyway, this will be my last nasi lemak and have to wait for another 11 days before I can have another nasi lemak. The croissant provided is good with butter flavour.

Finally reached Paris airport. Reached around 6.40am Paris time. I like to arrive early morning so that I have one full day. I usually opt for hotel/hostel which have luggage storage so that I can just drop my items and begin my exploration. I need to look for CDGVAL train to get to terminal 3 in order to broad RER train to Paris city centre.

Brought my ticket to Paris Nord train station. Ticket price from CDG airport to Paris city centre at EUR9.25.

Waiting for RER train. First impression is that the train is dirty :-P

Reached Paris Nord aka Gary Du Nord main train station.

Waiting for metro to reach my hotel.

Wow, when exiting metro station of Place d'Italie... My hotel is just 5 minutes walk from here. More updates later...

I actually wondered what they going to serve me on this flight. Sushi maybe? I hope so. But it turns out, they just giving noodles. But don't look down on this noodles. It taste quite good. It is something like flour noodles soaked in soy sauce. Other than that, they also provide rice with some vegetables (broccoli and carrot).

Taste:8/10(Good. Overall the food in this flight is good. I got sweet, salty and sour taste in the meal).

Seoul to Kuala Lumpur on economy class via Malaysia Airlines

I always look forward for the flight meal back from foreign countries as I can taste some of the local product on board and its not the normal predictable nasi lemak or fried noodles. For example my flight back from Seoul, I was served with some western food with a pack of kimchi. I already eat kimchi everyday while I am in Korea for 1 week and on board they have this packed kimchi. As I have difficulties to find fresh kimchi back home, I don't open this kimchi pack. I reserved this pack for my mom. She quite like it. Anyway, kimchi taste is not that bad after all.

My flight going back to Kuala Lumpur was good and comfort. The timing is just good. Depart late morning from Seoul and reached Kuala Lumpur at 5.30pm. I slept well in the flight as tired for walking non-stop for 1 week with little rest.

Taste:6/10(Moderate. The meal is rather normal and nothing to shout about except they given a small packet of kimchi. The dessert is not good and I don't like it).

As seen in the photo above, I choose the potato with vegetables meal.

Two pieces of sandwich.

Malaysia Airlines - Kuala Lumpur to Tokyo (Narita)

I can't deny that during this 3 months, I really travel mad. Not because of work but more on leisure. I usually don't like to travel much but seems like opportunities are there, why not just grab the chance? Some more my hands is itchy enough to always typing on my laptop and looking for places to visit. After my US trip, I suddenly have the urge to continue with another trip. Thought it will end in Korea but hand still itchy to plan for the next trip which is Japan. While my interest to plan for trip is still there and I still have the spirit to walk, I think I better do it. Just do it!

After my US trip, I found that I am quite good in city trip planning and do budgeting. Basically I won't spend much on the hotel/hostel that I stay but the top priority is the place that I stay is clean, safe, with WIFI access and quiet for sleeping. I won't mind that the place is small or a bit far from the centre of attractions.

Now I want to share my flight experience with Malaysia Airlines flying from Kuala Lumpur to Narita Airport. The journey takes almost 7 hours. I am quite happy with the flight schedules as I departs from Kuala Lumpur nearly midnight time and reached there early in the morning. So I save 1 day of hotel stay.

The food is similar to the food on flight to Seoul, South Korea.

Breakfast set. I choose nasi lemak as it can sustain me from from hunger :-P

I still like the nasi lemak.

Finally after nearly 7 hours flight. I reached Narita Airport.

Japan Airlines plane.

Reached inside Narita Airport Terminal 2.

This is how Narita Airport look like.

30 Hours of Flight & Transit back to Kuala Lumpur on Virgin America & Malaysia Airlines

This is the longest journey for I ever had by air so far. From New York to Kuala Lumpur in two stops. My flight from New York to Los Angeles took 6 hours 40 minutes. I rest for 8 hours in Los Angeles before continuing my journey to Kuala Lumpur. The flight from Los Angeles to Kuala Lumpur took me almost 22 hours with 1 hour 30 minutes stop in Taipei. Fortunately when I booked my flight from New York to Los Angeles I allow 8 hours connecting time before my next flight.

My worry comes true when my original flight from New York to Los Angeles by Virgin America was delayed for 6 hours. On that day, I am quite lucky to arrive at JFK Airport early enough to catch an earlier flight. So, I am actually arrived Los Angeles 1 hour earlier. I not sure whether I should be happy about this but, by having last minute check-in, I don't need to pay USD25 to check in my bag. Being an airline person, I actually quite worried about missing airline connection. If I were to miss my Los Angeles to Kuala Lumpur flight, I will have to wait two more days before the next flight. Malaysia Airlines only flies there 3 times weekly. It quite boring to stay two more days in Los Angeles :-P

Virgin America (Not much picture as they don't serve free meal. Only drinks!):

Good inflight entertainment but mostly need to pay.

I like to know my status of where am I currently.

Very nice cabin.

Can order food via the inflight dashboard.

Malaysia Airlines (I can't denied that this is better because its business class):

Malaysian Signature satay (charcoal grilled barbecue meat with spicy peanut sauce). They have selection of chicken or beef.

Supper starter set.

Very nice marinated scallop with salad.

Chicken beriani.

Breakfast hot bread.

Omalette.

Lunch set of wok fried chicken with rice.
