Simple and cheap roasted duck noodles from Big Family Restaurant @ Sungai Buloh

Big Family restaurant located in Sungai Buloh offers a variety of food options during lunch time from Thai noodles, chicken rice, seafood noodles, economy rice, bakery products and duck noodles. This time I am going to review their roasted duck noodles which is quite good for its simplicity and good price.

Taste:8/10(Good. Roasted duck and noodles is a great combination. The meat was tender and flavourful).
Price:9/10(Cheap. Noodles plus big portion of duck drum stick at MYR6.50).


The roasted duck meat is quite good due to its tenderness and some fat.

Portuguese Grill Fish @ Oasis Food Court, Mid Valley Megamall, Kuala Lumpur

I have about this stall located in Mid Valley Megamall shopping complex for quite a while that they serve good grill fish. Today, I take the opportunity to try myself to verify such claims. As for their menu, they come with quite a number of combos. Most of the combos are around MYR8.90, ranging from a combo of fish with prawn, squid, cockles. There’s also a variety of fish, like pomfret, tilapia and stingray. I went for the stingray + squid combo at RM 8.90, rice included.

I am quite impressed with the staff’s ability to memorize each customers’ order and given the number of customers. The lady remembers who ordered and who has not, and she also remembers who ordered what! The dishes are pre-packed in the kitchen and grilled in the packet, right next to the cashier counter. A set of grilled seafood leaves the stall every 20-30 seconds and this stall is usually on long queue during meal times.

Taste:8/10(Good. The fish that I ordered cooked perfectly. The taste is a bit salty & quite spicy but its good. Recommended to those who want simple meal).
Price:8/10(Cheap. Most of the items priced at MYR8.90. For that price you will get fish, squid & some vegetables covered in spicy prawn paste sauce (belacan)).

Tokyu Food Show @ Shibuya, Tokyo

Tokyu food show located at Shibuya is another famous depachika in Tokyo. Here you can sample a variety of food for free! The food courts are a critical resource for busy commuters picking up a late dinner, and during non-rush hours, a fun place to wander around and try different dishes. Sushi, sashimi, yakitori and tempura will have plenty to choose from.

Seibu food hall @ Ikebukuro, Tokyo

Japan is famous for its huge departmental stores based underground food hall. These food hall are huge and selling a variety of food stuff from cheap and simple sushi take away box to expensive Japanese honey dew. These food hall are known as depachikas. You can see many varieties of confectionary, Japanese treats, bread, fish, meat, whole foods, fresh produce, tofu, pickled vegetables, ready-made meal, sushi, packed lunch and cakes here. The price of the food here is not cheap. However, you can see the best food decoration here and sample among the best Japanese food. This is a place to go if you wish to try out many Japanese food in a short period of time. Other than that, it is a great place to find gift to someone you appreciate or love.

I tried out the green tea cake. Quite good though. The cream inside the cake is amazingly nice. Seems made with egg.

Dinner at Bedok MRT station

This is among the best local food that we taste so far in Singapore. The local food court is huge with an estimated 50 food stalls.

Taste:9/10(Delicious. Good and many variety to choose from).
Price:7/10(Moderate. The price is around 3-4 SGD per order).

Lot 10 Hutong

The management of Lot 10 (YTL Corporation) has taken a great step in revitalizing the Lot 10 food court by inviting those top/best food stalls in the country to open their stall here in Lot 10. The food court once served mediocre food, now is a pleasant place to visit. I can see the place is almost full during my visit there for dinner. There are quite a number of stalls from my observation. I think the food here is rather good and it will be a famous place for food one day. I would recommend this place for tourist who want to try as many as possible good local Malaysian Chinese food in a short period of time.

I went there during the second day of Chinese new year and you will notice that many stall are closed. I went for Hon Kee Porridge with pork innards and guess what, it taste quite good. They have many types of porridge toppings: raw fish, pork meat, century egg, pork innards and etc. I choose pork innards as others are sold out. Priced at RM6.50 per bowl plus tax is a bit expensive when compared to the stall in Petaling Street. But here it is more convenient & air-condition environment. So it is worth for the extra. I would give 8/10 for the taste of this porridge.


I saw this Lot 10 decoration on the lobby which listed hundreds of chinese last name (family name). Interesting though.
