Tokyo to Kuala Lumpur on All Nippon Airways (ANA) economy class

ANA begins their new daily flights to Kuala Lumpur from Narita Tokyo starting 1st Sep 2015. This is the only airline company with 5 star Skytrax operating the route. Basically I am trying to compare the service and the flight product offered on this flight with Malaysia Airlines. As a frequent traveller of Kuala Lumpur to Narita route, I am quite satisfied with the service and food provided by this flight. However, the seat on this flight were quite small when compared to Boeing 777 aircraft. Seat pitch on Boeing 787 aircraft were smaller and cramped. The food provided by this flight were much better than the flight which I took from Kuala Lumpur to Narita. Maybe due to the food were prepared in Tokyo which have higher quality standard.

Rating:7/10

The new Boeing 787 flight.

Light snack and refreshment. Do request for their special kabosu drink. Its refreshing and delicious.

Dinner set. The food were better than from Kuala Lumpur route. I am delighted to see the their effort of preparing special edition of Pocky chocolate stick snack for the Kuala Lumpur route starting 1st Sep 2015. This is Western meal set containing chicken rice, salad, raw smoked fish and dessert.

Chicken, rice, carrot and mushrooms.

Salad.

Salad dressing, butter and cheese.

Light meal before touch down. Chocolate pastry.

Selfie with the Boeing 787 before boarding the plane.

Kuala Lumpur to Tokyo on All Nippon Airways (ANA) economy class

ANA begins their new daily flights to Kuala Lumpur from Narita Tokyo starting 1st Sep 2015. I am quite excited to be the earlier batch to try the service on this flight. After having great experience on their Tokyo to Los Angeles route in June 2015, I am eager to try out this flight from my home country. The flight departed at 7.00am and reached Narita at around 3.00pm. The flight time were designed to be able to connect to all ANA flights flying on America route within the same day. I am quite satisfied with the flight as the aircraft used were new Boeing 787. I can feel the air in the cabin were less dry when compared to the Boeing 777 aircraft which I usually take to Tokyo. However, the seat on this flight were smaller and less comfortable. The food provided were under expectation.

Rating:6/10

Inside ANA Boeing 787

The seat was small and cramped.

Breakfast meal set. Porridge and noodles. They also provide a bottle of Yakult.

The porridge were normal and plain.

Good soba noodles.

The chocolate puff which taste bad. Dry and hardened chocolate filling. I am expecting something better.

Boeing 787 does have great technology on their windows. Dimming window that can be adjusted to let in various amounts of light. The dimming effect is the result of an electrified gel sandwiched between two thin pieces of glass. As the electric current increases, the gel darkens and as it drops, the gel lightens.

Arriving Narita. Time to quickly get out from the plane to catch my connecting flight.

Tokyo to Los Angeles with great amenities on All Nippon Airways (ANA) economy class

Last week I took a flight by All Nippon Airways(ANA) from Tokyo to Los Angeles. Surprisingly the flight service, food and seat arrangement were great. I am quite impress with the amount of hot food that they served for economy class such as miso soup, green tea and the usual coffee/tea. In the flight, they also have a very good Kabosu cocktail. Its really refreshing and thirst quenching which is suitable for dry environment inside aircraft especially on a long journey flight. Another plus point of the flight is hot towel provided twice! The hot towel is very helpful on long haul flight in order to feel refreshed. The competition among the full service airlines are very stiff now as pricing competition and the need to differentiate the product in order to attract customer to book the airlines. The entry of many middle east airlines also set the bar higher with lower fares, new aircraft and better service. ANA also have service to enable passenger to pass thru immigration faster for those who have tight connecting flights.

Rating:9/10

Dinner meal

Flavoured rice crackers. Quite good flavoured rice crackers. The Aromatic Kabosu cocktail is impressive. Aromatic Kabosu is a cloudy, mildly sour lime juice from Oita Prefecture, Kyushu, in the south of Japan. It's very thirst quenching which is perfect for drinking in the dry environment of an airplane. Kabosu is the name of the lime taste so great when paired with honey sweetness to perfection.

Rubberise headphone. Good sound and prevent you from hearing aircraft noise.

Delicious and impressive meal by ANA. I like the idea that they provide one bottle of water. This lessen the cabin crew burden of providing water to the passengers. Its quite trouble some for the crew to pass the water especially before breakfast during the long haul flight.

Chicken thigh and chicken quenelle over steamed rice with vegetables. The rice is soft and taste very good.

Hot miso soup provided. Impressive with the amount of hot meal they provide.

Metal utensil. Nowadays most airlines already provide plastic utensil.

Japanese tofu.

Good soba noodles with wasabi and seaweed.

Haagen Dazs ice cream as dessert.

Yakult cultured drink.

Kurobe mineral water.

Hot green tea.

Chivas soda offered for free on economy class.

Breakfast meal

Breakfast set for flight Tokyo Narita to Los Angeles airport. Sockeye salmon flakes and various ingredients over steamed rice.

Inflight entertainment screen.

Seat configuration were good with 2, 2, 2 & 3. There are 4 seats in the middle which have a gap in between which makes it 2 X 2 seats.

Istanbul to Kuala Lumpur on economy class via Malaysia Airlines

Now after spending 6 days in Istanbul, its time to go home and back to work. The last minute trip were executed smoothly although I only have around 1 week to plan it. The food was better on my flight from Istanbul to Kuala Lumpur.

Rating:7/10(Moderate. The food were slightly better than the going flight food. I like the cheese and the Turkish cake provided on the first meal as its tasty).

Potato wedges and stir fry vegetables. Bun, cheese, crackers, chicken breast salad, sweet Turkish cake and tadelle chocolate.

Main course photo. The stir fry vegetables consist of broccoli, carrots, onions and zucchini.

Second meal of nasi lemak/rice infused coconut milk. The prawn paste were separated when compared to the one from Kuala Lumpur to Istanbul which mixed together with the rice. Croissant, fruits and dessert were provided. The dessert is a sourish pudding which does not taste good.
