Delicious Malay cuisine at De.Wan 1958 by Chef Wan @ The LINC, Kuala Lumpur

Restaurant De.Wan 1958 by Chef Wan is quite popular even though it just open its door about 3 weeks ago. Many would like to try the dishes of this popular celebrity chef which I watched his cooking programme on television during my secondary school days. The food served are authentic Malay cuisine with free flow of 3 types of rice. They have white, yellow and egg rice. I personally like their egg rice the most as its very tasty with lots of shallots and dried prawns.

Taste:9/10(Delicious. I like their peanut sauce chicken as the meat is tender and the rich and creamy peanut sauce flavour absorbed into the chicken, makes this dish quite good. The oxtail soup is tasty with strong aromatic of local spices flavour. The soup is thick and the broth is tasty with their rice. The daging rendang Selangor is good but its not that memorable. The meat still not tender enough and this type of rendang is a bit wet. Bubur som som dessert is very good if you like very sweet stuff. I personally like the dessert. But if you don't like sweet, I don't think you will like such super intense sweetness of gula Melaka).
Price:3/10(Expensive. Peanut sauce chicken at MYR32.00, oxtail soup at MYR33.00, daging rendang Selangor at MYR59.00, bubur som som dessert at MYR16.00 and rice at MYR7.00 per person).

I would recommend my fellow readers to try this restaurant if they would like to taste authentic Malay food and to enjoy the good ambiance of the restaurant plus probability of meetup with Chef Wan himself there.

Nice and elegant reception.

Oxtail soup. Aromatic and thick broth that goes very well with their rice.

Peanut sauce chicken and daging rendang Selangor.

This dish of peanut sauce chicken is outstanding.

I less enjoy this daging rendang Selangor as I expected something drier and more tender beef.

Yellow rice and egg rice with oxtail. Yummy.

Mr Chew 's Chino Latino Bar @ WOLO Kuala Lumpur

Mr Chew's Chino Latino bar located at the Penthouse of WOLO Kuala Lumpur. The place offers good fusion food and variety of cocktails. I just going to review about their lunch set which I had it recently. The decoration inside the restaurant is fantastic with nice portrait.

Taste:8/10(Good. The lunch set food overall is good but not outstanding. Food presentation were good. The fried fish is a bit dry in the sweet fish bun and the taste is mostly enhanced by mayonnaise. The steamed bun however were perfect as its soft and light. The Yuzukosho tamarind chicken main dish was slightly overcooked and caused the meat to be a bit harder. Taste wise, the chicken is good. I like the dessert of lychee, mango and panna cotta. The dessert mixture taste were well executed and refreshing).
Price:4/10(Near expensive. The lunch set plus dessert here will cost you MYR60.00. Their dessert however is optional. If you just want the appetizer and main without dessert, its at MYR45.00).

I would recommend you to come here if you would like to try decent fusion food and enjoy the nice fancy restaurant ambiance.

The atmosphere is nice with a competing kitchen working in view of everyone. The staff are very informative and willing to make sure you are happy. The decoration is good but the restaurant is a bit noisy as quite crowded and this is a tourist attraction. You need to make a reservation using OpenTable apps as this place is quite high in demand even for lunch.

Signature pork bun from Momofuku @ Las Vegas, USA

Momofuku in Las Vegas is located in Cosmopolitan Resort. They have many branches across America and I missed my chance to try it out when I were in New York previously. This simple restaurant by David Chang has one item which catches everyone attention. Its their pork bun. I do recommend sitting at the counter in front of the kitchen. You can watch the chefs prepare the food and then pick what you think looks good.

Taste:10/10(Excellent. The pork bun is delicious with tender, juicy and melt in your mouth pork belly. Together with cucumber and hoisin sauce, makes a good combination and goes well with the soft flour bun and SSAM sauce. Their grilled lamb ribs is good as well but still can't beat the deliciousness of the pork bun. Similar tender lamb ribs which blends well with yogurt).
Price:4/10(Near expensive. Pork bun at USD7.00 per piece and made to order. Grilled lamb ribs at USD21).

Tasty and delicious pork belly bun. Attached with Momofuku signature flag.

The cucumber with lamb ribs makes the taste more refine and refreshing. And you will feel not overloaded with meat.

Good lunch set from Lugdunum Bouchon Lyonnais @ Tokyo, Japan

Lugdunum Bouchon Lyonnais is a good French restaurant with one Michelin star serving Lyon style French cuisine. Nice atmosphere and a lovely place to spend a few hours to dine here. The lunch is reasonably priced and quite good. I choose their Le Menu du Déjeuner which comes with an appetizer, main dish and dessert plus coffee.

Taste:9/10(Delicious. All the 3 dishes that I ordered are quite good. Special mention to Quenelles of Lyon served with Nantua sauce which taste like lobster sauce and very good. The meal is quite filling as well. Salad with bacon were tasty and for dessert, the praline tart does standout. I can taste the hazelnut paste. As for the snow egg, there is chopped hazelnuts on top of the meringue. The meringue floats on top of cream and its so light and dissolved the moment I put it into my mouth).
Price:4/10(Near expensive. The 3 course set lunch meal at 2950 Yen).

Lyon style salad served with a cake of pig’s ears

Nice baguette bread.

Zuni Cafe @ San Francisco, USA

Zuni Cafe is famous for their roasted chicken. I was wondering how good can a chicken be. Of course my thought was changed when I tasted a really good chicken dish in New York a year ago. However, I have to miss ordering the chicken dish here as they only sell the whole chicken which is best consumed by two persons. Since I travel solo, I have to settle with smaller dish. I ordered the pork crepinette and found out the dish to be great.

Taste:10/10(Excellent. I ordered their Llano seco ranch pork crepinette with red wine braised lentils, delicata squash and fried herb gremolata. Such a long dish name. The taste is very good with succulent texture. Perfectly seasoned and perfectly cooked. Its my first time to try on those delicious sides that come with the pork crepinette. The Caesar Salad is served with whole romaine leaves. The dressing for the salad were well done as each parts were properly dressed. The portion of salad is huge and I basically half full when finish the salad. Plus the homemade croutons are delicious as well).
Price:3/10(Expensive. Caesar salad at USD12.00 and pork crepinette at USD20.00).

A Pie Thing has been around for quite a while in Damansara Uptown serving good decent pie. You can have their savory or sweet pie. The good pie here is their chicken mushroom or mutton pie. The cafe environment at this place makes it good place for meet up and discussion or just to chill.

Taste:8/10(Good. I satisfied with the taste of the chicken mushroom pie here however I think they can still improve on the taste of the crust).
Price:4/10(Near expensive. The pie basic pie here with gravy cost MYR13.50).

Chicken mushroom pie with gravy. The filling were moist and tasty but the crust needs improvement as not much flavour on it.

Some of their savory pies.
