It's really a OMG world in Akihabara, Tokyo. There are a few blocks of shops selling all the latest adult toy, porn DVDs, Hentai (sexually explicit or pornographic comics and animation), pictures of sweet ladies and even replica of silicon girls. The shops are not only one or two stories tall. The largest one is as high as 8 stories high with each floor having specialized items for certain group of people. The price for the items is not cheap. Even DVDs, sells at 2000 Yen and replica of silicon girl sells as high as 30,000 Yen or MYR1200!
The largest adult store here is the pop life department m's which is 8 stories high. it is an impressively large store which has so many things. Although the store is big, but the shop keeper try to slot in as many things as possible into their shop. I’m not really going to go into detail but you can buy pretty much anything you could possibly imagine in this store, and probably quite a few things you never really knew existed. The impressive thing about the shop is that despite its contents, it doesn’t feel at all seedy or horrible a place to go into. It is open, simply designed, and surprisingly brightly lit. It gives the impression of being a very clean and modern department store. It's a big green-tinted building with costumes displayed on every floor.
In 2008, there is a unfortunate incident happened on Chūō-dōri avenue of Akihabara in front of Softmap shop. Seven people was killed by end of the day in the Akihabara massacre on 8 June 2008 in the afternoon. A man hit a crowd with a truck, eventually killing three people and injuring two; he then stabbed at least 12 people using a dagger. The attack made global headlines and sent shock waves across Japan, shaking public confidence in what is traditionally considered a society safe from violent crime. Soon after the attack, the launch events of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots in Tokyo was cancelled. And super sentai series at that time which featured daggers as weapon were replaced with swords.

Another adult store. Selling at 1000 Yen per book. These hentai is favourites among the locals. For me its something unique as it is not allowed in my country. But in Japan, it is normal which every major book stores have a section on it.

If you take the JR Yamanote line commuter rail, you need to stop at Akihabara station. It is just located behind the station. All the major attraction in Akihabara located on Chūō-dōri avenue. Akihabara is also accessible via Tokyo Metro subway Akihabara station. It is around 5 minutes walk to Chuo-dori.
