Contemporary European Cuisine @ 2nd Floor, Taman Tun Dr Ismail, Kuala Lumpur

Having a dinner here with a friend to try out this newly opened restaurant. 2nd Floor is a new kid on the block surrounded by top restaurants in the neighbourhood serving contemporary European cuisine. In 2nd Floor, the cuisine is more toward German styled food as they have a good German masterchef, Gerhard Albrecht. The concept of the food here is focused on using natural products and bringing European taste with a slight local twist. Some of the specialties here includes pork ribs, barley soup and ginger creme brulee.

Taste:8/10(Delicious. The main highlight here were their tropical pork ribs. Taste very good with sauteed apple. The sauce which comes with the pork ribs has a slight sourish taste and its nicely done as well. Their crab cakes are yummy. Quite creative to have sourish and slight spicy sauce to accompany the crab cakes. They also have maultaschen which is quite unique as most of the time, the maultaschen is in the form of dumplings. But here are pan fried version with onions and egg).
Price:5/10(Near expensive. Pricing wise are quite reasonable and affordable for Western type of dining. The appetizer are still within the MYR20 range. 2NDFLR special salad at MYR20, pan fried crab cake at MYR32, barley soup at MYR11, maultaschen at MYR25 and tropical pork ribs at MYR55).

2nd Floor located at TTDI.

Nice cosy outdoor seating.

If you need more formal and quiet discussion, they also have air-conditioned section.

My first meal here started with 2NDFLR special salad. Its with Romaine lettuce, parmesan cheese, croutons, poached egg and bacon. Great combination of vegetables together with bacon fat.

Delicious with strong butter and garlic taste. Crunchy garlic bread.

Barley soup. This version of barley soup is almost identical to your mom's home cooked soup with love. Boiled with vegetables and chicken broth.

Poached eggs was nicely done.

Pan fried crab cake. Consist of breaded crab meat, chili jam and orange salad. Crab cake together with the jam and orange makes an excellent combination.

Pan fried maultaschen with egg. Comes with prawn and salad. Their maultaschen is prepared in gerostet style which the pasta is cut into pieces then pan fried with onions and egg.

This is how maultaschen content look like.

My main meal here was Tropical pork ribs. Tender slow cooked pork ribs with combination of orange, poppy seeds, saffron and yoghurt dip. The sauteed apple taste well together with the pork ribs.

Outside seating if you wish to have warmer environment.

The chef grow some of the herbs needed for cooking. Located just beside the famous DC restaurant in Taman Tun Dr Ismail.
