Oriental speakeasy bar @ The Pawn Room, Taman Tun Dr Ismail, Kuala Lumpur

Introduced by a friend, The Pawn Room is an oriental speakeasy concept bar. As you enter the gate, you need to find the hidden door behind the deposit boxes to enter the bar. The interior decorations, lanterns, deposit boxes and rattan chairs are beautiful and does create a sense of being teleported back in time into an olden days of Shanghai ancient pawn shop. I like the environment here with soft retro chinese music. The music volume is perfect and not too loud which provide a conducive environment for discussion. The talented resident mixologist Mckay, does invented many interesting cocktail drinks here. The cocktails are very unique and the mixologist here must have put a lot thoughts into designing the drinks. I tried their floating lotus and the taste is great with creative mixture of fruits juice, liqueurs and bitters. This place has a private room for large group or private function. There are jazz live performance every Thursday and Friday with resident artist Sharon Sui. Do check out their website for latest updates on the jazz performance.

Taste:9/10(Delicious. I normally prefer sweet cocktail and the bartender recommended me to try their floating lotus. This is also their best selling cocktail and taste very good. Refreshing, very smooth, easy to drink and natural taste. Floating lotus is a mixture of gin, lime juice, pineapple juice and mixed with variety of liqueurs. My friend does ordered the mad maple rum with Plantation pineapple rum, maple syrup, orange bitters and apricot brandy. It's a different type of cocktail taste but very well dependent to individual preference).
Price:4/10(Near expensive. The floating lotus cocktail at MYR45.00 and mad maple rum at MYR45.00. Although pricing is at higher side but the cocktail here are quite unique and yummy).
