Kanin Club Restaurant in Ayala Triangle Park, Makati

I had a dinner with my colleagues together with our trainers from Philippines who bring us to this nice place. Their anchovies salad and fried fish were the menu which stands out.

Taste:9/10(Delicious. The food here is unique and distinctive taste. Good recommendation for Filipino food).
Price:6/10(Moderate. This restaurant price is above moderate by Philippines standard. Each person need to spend about 400 Peso for a typical dinner with tummy full).

Fried anchovies salad. Good!

Rice with crab roe (Aligue).

Fried talapia. Crispy and yummy.

Seafood platter consist of squid, prawn & oysters.

Mango fried rice. A bit sour.

Stir fry squid.

Some sort of vegetable wrap with sweet sauce. Good. Not sure whether this is called "lumpiang sariwa".

Salcedo Saturday Market in Makati, Manila

I found out this market from Google Maps which actually located quite near to our hotel (Fraser Place Makati). It is just 5 minutes away walking distance. The market seems like our "pasar malam" in Malaysia. The unique thing in this market is that you can find a variety stuff of food which can't find in Malaysia. The location is within the expatriate living area and condominiums. You can find many Filipino, French, Spanish, Chinese & Italian cuisine. Great that I am able to visit this market on the saturday morning at 7.30am before I going for class at 9am.

This market is actually located inside the Jamie C. Velasquez Park.


Roasted cow. Wow! They roast the whole cow.

Roasted pork.

I like this juice. Dalandan taste almost similar like orange juice but with some distinctive taste.

Salted eggs. Quite different as they salted eggs are all red.

Local food. Mixed rice in the early morning.

Roasted chicken or chicken inasal.

Variety of roasted food.

Deep fried quilt.

Nice pineapple.

Roasted fish.

Many types of lasagna.

The carrots are so fresh.

Unique fusion Japanese & Western cuisine at John and Yuko in Greenbelt 5, Makati

John and Yuko serve Japanese fusion type of food. Their food portion is quite big and it is quite good too. Since I never have foie gras before which is considered as an expensive meal, I tried it this time. Foie gras is a main ingredient for French cuisine but I don't know that it can be mixed with Japanese cuisine. The combination turns out to be good. I can stand the bitterness & murky taste of foie gras and it actually taste quite good and creamy because of high fat content on the duck liver served (don't consume that much foie gras, not good for health & its controversy).

Taste:9/10(Delicious. The food here is good and the sushi roll is well done. Just that the sushi is a bit salty).
Price:6/10(Moderate. Amazingly, eating here is quite reasonable and fulling too. Four items (two main meals, one sushi roll & one sashimi plate) set us back 1100 Peso).

Fraser Place Serviced Residences in Makati, Manila

Finally my colleagues & I arrived in Manila for training. We stay in this great service apartment-Fraser Place. The apartment is huge which is good to fit 7 of us for first week and 8 of us on the second week. The location of this apartment is strategic and near to our training centre office. The major shopping malls area such as Glorietta, Greenbelt & Land Mark are also within walking distance.

This apartment also provide us with a full functional kitchen, washing machine with dryer, entertainment system, Internet broadband service, swimming pool, gymnasium & good complimentary breakfast. Since we got many Muslim colleagues here, the kitchen is very convenient for them to prepare their dinner. Now I know who is the best cook here :-). The security here is also quite good as the guard here is quite strict & they have dog to detect any explosive substances.

Having staying in this apartment for two weeks, I would recommend anyone to stay here if they happen to go to Makati, Manila if the budget permits. A night here would cost around USD80-150 person and depends on how is the room arrangement.
