Decent Japanese sushi @ Sushi Azabu, 4th Floor, Isetan The Japan Store, Kuala Lumpur

Sushi Azabu just opened recently a few months ago and this add another decent place to have your favourite authentic Japanese sushi in Kuala Lumpur. The sushi here is well done with all the necessary ingredient on the sushi already add it for you. The recommended set here is of course their omakase set but of course will burn a big hole in your wallet. The sushi here are fresh and you can see the chef action of preparing your sushi as it a wide open concept type of kitchen bar.

Taste:9/10(Delicious. Fresh sushi with the right balance of taste as the chef know what to put and have the right temperature of the sushi. The rice for the sushi had the perfect consistency. The taste is almost like from the sushi that you get from Tsukiji market in Tokyo).
Price: 3/10(Expensive. I ordered the Koi course with an appetizer, 8 pieces of nigiri sushi and miso soup at MYR120.00. Also ordered their 3 kinds of sashimi with tuna, grouper and salmon at MYR52.00. Omakase meal here will cost you MYR420.00. Its worth it if you are thinking of trying similar calibre type of sushi as in Tsukiji market in Tokyo).

Fascinating Isetan The Japan Store @ Lot 10, Bukit Bintang, Kuala Lumpur

Its quite exciting to see Isetan opening a real Japanese concept store in Malaysia. All the products and environment in this Isetan store does imported from Japan and make you feel like visiting a Japanese department store. Malaysian do like Japanese products very much. Although the exchange rate is not favourable to us, we still like to buy Japanese products. This can be seen when people flocking to The Isetan store in Lot 10 and the newly opened FamilyMart. I do admit that I attracted to the products over here. I spend almost half a day exploring this mall and tried the food at their food court. Here you can have authentic Japanese food. If you like soba noodles, they even have a Japanese chef making the soba noodles here. Fresh on the spot. If you like Japanese drinks, the selection is abundant from beer, wines, sake and Japanese non-alcoholic drinks. Isetan The Japan Store currently has five floors operating, with each floor has its own dedicated theme: The Market, The Museum, The Studio, The Room, and The Cube. The store does great for window shopping but not so friendly to your wallet. A broom imported from Japan, cost MYR500, Doob technology figure at MYR950 to MYR3200 and clothes mostly above MYR1000.

Excellent sushi dinner from Oribe Sushi @ Vipod Residence, Kuala Lumpur

If you are looking for authentic sushi restaurant in Kuala Lumpur, then look nowhere else. Oribe Sushi located on the ground floor of Vipod Residence in Jalan Kia Peng, Kuala Lumpur. The main attraction here is their omakase set. There are 12 counter seats and a small dining room area. All the sushi are made by two chefs. Master Chef Hideaki and Chef Naoya. I was lucky to have my meal prepared by Chef Hideaki. For ultimate experience, do request for counter seat. There you will see all the action of sushi preparation by the chefs. The kitchen area is open and you can see the sushi preparation in detail.

For their lunch and dinner, Oribe offers 5 different menu - Seto, Iga, Mino, Oribe and Omakase. I choose Mino which consist of an appetizer, steamed egg custard, 13 "chef's speciality" nigiri, sushi roll, miso soup and a dessert. Each sushi were prepared fresh, delicately and with right amount of warm sushi rice. The chef already put all the necessary ingredient onto the sushi and no additional seasoning is required. Some of the sushi were served with a dash of yuzu (Japanese lime) and salt which enhanced the flavour. The chef will place each piece of sushi onto my plate and describes what I will be eating. The way the sushi is prepared is almost on par with the sushi that I tried in Tsukiji market in Tokyo. As for the price, I do agree that it is on the expensive side. But with this kind of excellent quality and authentic Japanese sushi preparation experience, the amount spent here is worth it if you love premium sushi. Make sure you have around 90 minutes to enjoy the meal.

Taste:9/10(Excellent. Fresh, good quality and tasty sushi. Great service with good presentation. Quality wise almost similar to sushi in Tsukiji Market in Tokyo. Using premium items on sushi preparation and creativity. Do take note that menu in Oribe is seasonal. They may have different offering from time to time).
Price:2/10(Expensive. It's a price to pay to have top notch sushi meal with premium quality in Kuala Lumpur. They have two Japanese chef to make good sushi with right balance of ingredient and temperature).
