Good Indian cuisine from GEM Restaurant @ Brickfields, Kuala Lumpur

GEM Restaurant located opposite of NU Sentral Mall is a semi fine dining restaurant specialises in both Northern and Southern Indian cuisine. There has been in the exact location for decades and that prove that the meal must be good in order to survive that long. They serve both meat and vegetarian food options. The environment in the restaurant is great and looks classy. As their location is near to KL Sentral public transportation hub, you will be some tourists dine here as well.

Taste:8/10(Good. Among the food ordered below, tawa prawns is the best. Its something unique compared to others. Overall food here is good with adequate level of spice in the cooking).
Price:5/10(Near expensive. The price here is slightly pricy compared to normal Indian restaurant. Mutton Roganjosh at MYR21.90, garlic naan at MYR5.00, tawa prawns at MYR24.90, spinach of your choice at MYR14.90 and paneer tikka at MYR19.90 ).

Appetizer. Paneer tikka. Cubes of cottage cheese marinated in masala and grilled.

Tawa prawns. Tasty dish made with prawns with fried onions, yogurt and coriander leaves.

Good dishes eat with garlic naan.

Mutton Roganjosh. Cooked with onions and ground spices.

Spinach of your choice. This green weird looking paste is actually quite tasty. Chopped spinach cooked with cottage cheese and spiced.

Cosy environment in the restaurant.

Indian food at Kumar's @ Oasis Ara Damansara

Kumar's at Oasis Ara Damansara is a posh Indian restaurant. Having dinner with friends here on friday night as other restaurants around the area are quite full. Their have quite a variety of items in their menu but their main highlight is the fish head curry. Since we are not quite a big eater on that day, we choose to have their ala carte menu with fish instead.

Taste:7/10(Moderate. The taste were not up to our expectation of how fine dining Indian restaurant should taste like. The fish and chicken curry were watery and bendi masala were not up to expectation. Garlic naan were good but cheese naan needs improvement).
Price:3/10(Expensive. Portion were small and price almost double compared to normal Indian restaurant serving South Indian food. Mutton varuval at MYR18.90, chicken curry at MYR14.90, bendi masala at MYR12.90, red snapper curry at MYR18.90, garlic naan at MYR8.90, cheese naan at MYR10.90 and mango lassi at MYR10.90. There is 5% service charge and 6% GST).

Kumar's.

The dishes that we had.

Mutton varuval.

Red snapper curry. The curry was watery.

Ladies finger masala.

Chicken curry.

Cheese naan and garlic naan.

Mango lassi. I feel their lassi not good enough.

Delicious papadam.

Delicious Northern Indian Food at Garam Masala @ Bukit Tinggi, Klang

This is my second visit to Garam Masala restaurant to try out their other food item.

Taste:9/10(Delicious. The garlic naan were hot with full of butter with strong fresh garlic taste. Fantastic naan. Their mutton were good as the meat were succulent. Chicken tikka dish and missi chapatti were great as well. Recommended to come here for breakfast, lunch or dinner).
Price:6/10(Moderate. Missi chapatti at MYR3.50, garlic naan at MYR4.50, mutton Roganjosh at MYR16.90, chicken tikka butter masala at MYR14.90, jeera rice with green peas at MYR6.50, Hyderabadi chicken biryani at MYR13.90, chicken shahi korma at MYR12.90 and gulab jamun at MYR4.90. Their mutton Roganjosh were delicious but its only 5 pieces inside the bowl. I think the price is a bit high).

Ordered a variety of meals.

Chicken shahi korma. This dish is made from minced chicken meat. The texture is creamy.

Hyderabadi chicken biryani.

Jeera rice with green peas. Jeera mutter pullao.

Chicken tikka butter masala and mutton Roganjosh.

Chicken tikka butter masala with rice.

Missi chapatti. This is a combination of more flours such as maize, chickpea and millet. Taste great to eat it with dal.

Fantastic garlic naan. The naan were delicious and can taste the goodness of real garlic and roasted until fragrant.

Gulab jamun. It is a kind of dessert which is very sweet but tasty.

Cheese Naan at RSMY House of Real Biryani (Restoran Selera MY) @ Medan Tuanku, Kuala Lumpur

I have heard a lot of this restaurant serving good cheese naan and they claimed themselves to serve the best cheese naan in town. Finally I have a chance to try out the cheese naan here as I was there shopping in Sogo Kuala Lumpur and visiting Pertama Complex. The restaurant is located just opposite Maju Junction along with Lotus Restaurant at the corner. The naan is only available from 6.00pm onwards.

Taste:8/10(Good. The cheese naan does contain much cheese but its not abundant. Cheese naan taste good but not the best that I had. The cheese naan that I can get from Northern indian restaurant does taste better as there is coal roasted taste. Maybe they are the best in Kuala Lumpur but certainly not the whole Malaysia).
Price:6/10(Moderate. I didn't order much as I expect the cheese naan here to be almost the same size as cheese naan from other restaurants. I do surprise the cheese naan size here is a bit small. The dhal dipping dish here is not complimentary and not refillable. You need to pay MYR2.00 for each bowl of dal. I felt intimidated when need to pay extra for something which usually come for free. The cheese naan cost me MYR7.00, hot lime juice at MYR1.50 and dhal dipping sauce for MYR2.00).

Ordered RSMY garlic cheese naan. The dal dipping sauce does taste good with spices flavour, concentrated and contains much dhal inside.

Garlic cheese naan.

The naan contains much cheese and you can feel the stickiness.
