Thai street food @ Mr. Tuk Tuk, Setia City Mall, Shah Alam

Mr.Tuk Tuk in Setia City Mall is quite popular among the shoppers here. The restaurant is always occupied and you may need to queue especially during lunch and dinner time. Their Thai food taste is quite authentic and they have ala-carte, set and platter meal for you to choose from.

Taste:8/10(Good. The food taste quite authentic like Thai food. Special mention to their squid salad, green curry and mango sticky rice. Their Thai milk tea is tasty and sweet but I like it).
Price:6/10(Moderate. I ordered two of their set meal. However, the food portion is quite small and come with Thai milk tea. Each set at MYR17.80. Set meal is good to try on the variety of food that they have).

Ordered their set 4. Comes with Thai squid salad, green curry chicken, tofu with seafood and rice.

Mango sticky rice with coconut milk. The mango was sweet and the sticky rice were tasty.

Pineapple fried rice from set no 2.

Set no 2 with pandan chicken, Thai mango salad, crispy fish fillet with spicy Thai sauce and pineapple fried rice.

Thai milk tea.

Thai squid salad.

The condiment that you may need to enhance the flavour. They provide chili powder, spicy sauce, peanut powder and preserved chillies.

Small but cosy restaurant.

The Porki Society @ Seapark, Petaling Jaya

The Porki Society has a similar concept as the Boat Noodles. They have a very interesting tagline which reads "Extraordinary Thai Kitchen". The shop interior were colourful and interesting with wooden tables and chairs. Here you can have pork version of boat noodles and it comes with lots of lard on top of it. Its not healthy but the taste were good. I came here with my colleagues and tried their lunch set which are available from monday to friday (12.00pm to 3.00pm). Lets take a look on what we had during lunch.

Taste:8/10(Good. The food here were good with many Thai street food variety. Thai BBQ sausage were tasty but beware as it's quite spicy).
Price:6/10(Moderate. All of us took their average eater lunch set which comes with one big noodles, one small noodles, 2 snacks and a drink. All from MYR14.90).

Large noodles soup. Look at the amount of lard in the noodles. It's tasty.

Sai krok. Thai BBQ sausage. It's spicy.

Moo Tun. The Porki Society signature marinated pork.

Moo Ping Porki BBQ. Pork skewer.

Small portion of rice noodles. The sauce taste great and does not sourish.

Boat Noodles - Trendy but so-so noodles @ Klang Parade

Boat Noodles finally arrived in Klang with its outlet in Klang Parade. I have heard and read about it about their crazy queues on other outlets. However, the outlet in Klang Parade no queue at all and during lunch or dinner time, the restaurant is just full and have enough seat for everyone. Boat Noodles is currently trending probably due to their unique small serving size of noodles. The noodles dish originates from Thailand. The service were small and looks interesting. Their price of MYR1.90 per bowl serving does attract the crowd who wanted to know how the noodles taste like.

Taste:5/10(So-so. The noodles soaked in sourish broth with a small portion of beef. The broth does have beef flavour and slight spicy as well. The taste somehow does not blend well with the sourish taste of the broth with the rice noodles and the noodles is salty too).
Price:6/10(Moderate. Pricing wise is MYR1.90 per bowl. However the portion is quite small and you may need to order at least 5 to 8 bowls in order to satisfy your hunger. Eventually it may cost at least MYR15.00 plus drink to dine here).

Ordered of first two serving of Pathumthani & Ayutthaya beef rice noodles. Ayutthaya on the left while Pathumthani on the right.

Pathumthani beef noodles with small chunk of beef and vegetables. Sourish with spicy flavour. The sauce is derived from dark soy sauce. Not that spicy.

Ayutthaya beef noodles has thicker broth. More flavour and creamy compared to Pathumthani broth.

Menu describing the two distinctive flavour of broth in Boat Noodles.

Each bowl of noodles at MYR1.90.

Chicken rice noodles.

Completed 8 bowls. I personally does not like this concept as its not environmentally friendly. The worker need to clean so many bowls as the amount of noodles in each bowl is so small. This also increase the labour cost to clean all these bowls.

Boat Noodles trendy also due to their heavy presence in social media and have strong follower among the community.

Titbits from Bangkok

With the limited time that I have, I just shop around Paragon to look for titbits to bring back home. The price here is of course more expensive, but since I have limited time, its a good choice. The snacks turns out to be quite good too.

Durian chips. Fresh durian is better. However this snack is suitable for those who scare the strong smell of durian.

Another version of Thai dodol (this dessert is made from coconut milk and sugar. It needs to be stirred for few hours to become this delicacies). Its sweet and dry because the moisture is suck by the bamboo which wrap the delicacy.

Porntip pork spicy meat floss. The taste is amazing good.

This is even better. Porntip Crispy pork slices. The crispness is out of this world. If you don't know this item and don't think about fat, you sure will love it!

Coffee Beans By Dao @ Bangkok

Coffee Beans By Dao is my first real taste of Bangkok food. The food here is good and the variety is extensive and even you can have plenty of choices of dessert after your meal. For the drink, I ordered the weird drink of banana hot chocolate. The drink turn out to be good and I like it. The food is prepared in a special way such as pamelo salad which I can't find it in Malaysia. Their deep fried fish cake is also good. The spiciness of their tom yam kung is up to my standard and their green curry is full of coconut milk flavour with the use of kaffir lime leaves.

Taste:9/10(Delicious. The menu is extensive and the way food are prepared is special. The food are good. Simply like their drink, cake, tom yam & green curry).
Price:4/10(Near expensive. By Bangkok standard, this restaurant is considered as on the upper side).

This is how the restaurant look like.

The meal in clockwise: Crispy morning glory salad, pamelo salad, stir fry mixed vegetable with oyster sauce, deep fried fish cake, tom yam kung and green curry.

Chong Fatt Cafe @ Setapak, Kuala Lumpur

Located in Taman Setapak Indah, this cafe is a branch from the famous Chong Fatt seafood centre in Setapak, Kuala Lumpur. This restaurant specialized in preparing fish head noodles. Their fish head noodle is made by deep frying the fish head then put it in the fish soup base. Then they add in the extra ingredient such as rice wine, preserved vegetables, fish maw, evaporated milk & tomato. They also have the Sang Har mein (fresh water prawn noodles).

Taste:8/10(Their fish head noodles with fish maw is better than most of the fish head noodles those I tried else where. The chicken feet salad that we ordered is quite unique with Thai style flavour and the pandan leaf chicken is good with enough flavour).
Price:Their fish head noodles with fish maw priced at RM15.80 with drinks, chicken feet salad at RM12 & Pandan leaf chicken at RM18.

Hoy Ka Thai Noodle @ Hollywood Boulevard, Los Angeles

When we reached LAX airport, we took a shuttle to the nearest Metro station. From there, we need to take the Metro for two stations before we took a bus to our hotel. The whole journey took about 90 minutes. When we reached our hotel in Hollywood near Thai town, we were so hungry and I simply choose an Thai restaurant for lunch. There are quite a number of people in the shop and it should be good.

Taste:8/10(Good. Try their crispy pork rice. But beware of the spicy level. Don't order anything higher than medium if you can't eat spicy food).
Price:7/10(Moderate. The price is considered budget. A large bowl of noodles priced at USD5.00).

Obvious sign.

They have all the spicy and extra spicy chilly flakes.
