Delicious Malay cuisine at De.Wan 1958 by Chef Wan @ The LINC, Kuala Lumpur

Restaurant De.Wan 1958 by Chef Wan is quite popular even though it just open its door about 3 weeks ago. Many would like to try the dishes of this popular celebrity chef which I watched his cooking programme on television during my secondary school days. The food served are authentic Malay cuisine with free flow of 3 types of rice. They have white, yellow and egg rice. I personally like their egg rice the most as its very tasty with lots of shallots and dried prawns.

Taste:9/10(Delicious. I like their peanut sauce chicken as the meat is tender and the rich and creamy peanut sauce flavour absorbed into the chicken, makes this dish quite good. The oxtail soup is tasty with strong aromatic of local spices flavour. The soup is thick and the broth is tasty with their rice. The daging rendang Selangor is good but its not that memorable. The meat still not tender enough and this type of rendang is a bit wet. Bubur som som dessert is very good if you like very sweet stuff. I personally like the dessert. But if you don't like sweet, I don't think you will like such super intense sweetness of gula Melaka).
Price:3/10(Expensive. Peanut sauce chicken at MYR32.00, oxtail soup at MYR33.00, daging rendang Selangor at MYR59.00, bubur som som dessert at MYR16.00 and rice at MYR7.00 per person).

I would recommend my fellow readers to try this restaurant if they would like to taste authentic Malay food and to enjoy the good ambiance of the restaurant plus probability of meetup with Chef Wan himself there.

Nice and elegant reception.

Oxtail soup. Aromatic and thick broth that goes very well with their rice.

Peanut sauce chicken and daging rendang Selangor.

This dish of peanut sauce chicken is outstanding.

I less enjoy this daging rendang Selangor as I expected something drier and more tender beef.

Yellow rice and egg rice with oxtail. Yummy.

Cheap Lunch Everyday - food delivery

Recently there is new meal delivery in the market. I think this is the cheapest food delivery at MYR5.00. Every weekday there will be one fixed menu. You can't choose the menu. Each day is decided a week before. Then you decide whether to have the meal for that particular day and make order via their Whatsapp before 9.00pm a day earlier. Taste:7/10(Moderate. Since everyday is different menu, I can't comment each one specifically. In general, this is my rating for the food. Some meal like the nasi kunyit and tauchu chicken rice with ulam does have higher rating as it taste better).
Price:9/10(Cheap. Meal box at MYR5.00 with free delivery really no complain).

Nasi Lemak Hilton Corner @ Wisma Genting Hawker Stall

There is one stall at Wisma Genting food court which have long queue every morning on weekday. This stall selling nasi lemak with a few pots of curries. They have damn good squid, fish, chicken and eggs curry. The nasi lemak here is quite different. It follows the nasi kandar style. The hot coconut rice when mixed with the curries (squid, fish, chicken & eggs) is really good. I will always stop by here if I happen to go to Kuala Lumpur during weekday.

Taste: 10/10(Excellent & mixture of many types of sambal/curries. This is the best nasi lemak I that I had so far. The great thing about the curry is that it never gets too spicy and the spiciness level is just great).
Price: 8/10(Cheap. Mixture of 4 types of dish only cost you MYR5.00).

Don't judge the meal but its look. This meal is really good. The nasi lemak is moist when combined with dishes and curries, it become excellent breakfast.

This is how the nasi lemak looks like if you take away. Normal coconut rice with curries without the additional items.

Siti Khatijah market @ Kota Bharu, Kelantan

Siti Khadijah Market (Pasar besar Siti Khadijah), is a local wet market. Its name after Prophet Muhammad's wife, whom is known for her entrepreneurial skill, as this market is mostly run by women. Apart from the usual fresh goodies like seafood, vegetables and wide variety of fruits, you can also find ready-to eat food like 'ayam percik', nasi ulam and a variety of noodle soups, all unique in flavors and taste of Kelantan, serves freshly for you. Not to forget to taste the local desserts like 'kuih muih', tempeh and hot milk tea, which is the staple drink for Kelantanese.

Pasar wet market is featured in many documentary and TV programme. This is not a normal market. The market architecture itself is a fascinating sight. It was build in octagon shape and resembles the chinese 'pakua' shape. Another interesting feature is that every seller in the wet market is malay lady sitting at the centre of their stall. This market have 4 main section: wet market, dry stuff, clothes item & food court.

Great view from the second floor. Colourful!.

The market arrangement is quite unique.

Natural sunlight were used to light up the main wet market area.

Makcik/lady selling her keropok/cracker and meat floss at second floor.

They also sells weapons and bronze cookery here.

Never seen such chili before in Klang Valley.

Snacks in Klang

Hungry after having lunch or dinner? Maybe you may want to try some of my recommendation below:

Big Apple Donuts

Taste: 8/10 (good)
Price: 6-7/10 (moderate - depends on how may you order. The more you order the cheaper per donut).

Today I brought three donuts from Big Apple to try it as my colleague recommend me to try it. Big Apple do offer a variety of flavours and durian flavour did catch my attention. However, I am unable to buy it because it only last for around one hour. I am too full to finish it on the spot after just having my dinner. So, I just bought blue berry, almond chips & peanut flavour. The price for each donut is RM2 and if you order half dozen, it only cost RM9.60. As I mentioned earlier, the more you buy, the cheaper it gets.

Three a in box

Opened the box. Oops, its donuts in half. Forget to snap the picture before I taste it.

Rojak Klang Gani

Taste: 8/10 (good)
Price: 8/10 (cheap)

I heard this rojak stall which is situated at emporium makan klang just in front of Shaw Centrepoint Klang, is quite good. This stall business is quite good as many are waiting for their order. This rojak consist of fried kuih, squid, egg, tofu, cucumber, potato & gravy(peanut sauce). The good thing about this rojak is the kuih & the peanut gravy are served hot. Not like other rojak stall that serve cold & soft kuih. Each plate cost RM3. This stall open at 4.30pm till 10.30pm & close on sunday.
