Ramen at Bari Uma @ Jaya Shopping Centre, Petaling Jaya

Bari-Uma located on third floor of Jaya Shopping Centre in Petaling Jaya. Bari-Uma has over 40 restaurant in Japan and it is a new comer in term of ramen into Malaysian market. Besides ramen, they have delicious yakitori and Gyoza. The restaurant in Malaysia were managed by Nippon Delicious Sdn Bhd.

Taste:8/10(Good. The attraction here seems to be their pork belly yakitori which is succulent and fragrant. Adequately grilled to perfection with tasty sauce. Their ramen is good with not so thick soup. What lacking here is raw garlic which I think is a must for good ramen. They provide dried garlic instead which lack of flavour).
Price:6/10(Moderate. The lunch set is quite reasonable with a bowl of ramen of three options, yakitori or ice-cream or Gyoza as side dish and a glass of green tea. All this at MYR29.90).

My bowl of bari-uma ramen (Pork flavoured shoyu soup with thick-cut flamed chashu). Request to add an egg at MYR2.00.

Closer look at the ramen.

Two sticks of pork belly yakitori. Tasty.

Green tea.

Lunch set special. From 11.00am to 3.00pm. The lunch set includes 1 bowl of ramen, 2 sticks of pork belly yakitori or 3 pieces of Gyoza or ice-cream and 1 glass of green tea. Good yakitori meal at Torigin Main Shop @ Ginza, Tokyo

Torigin Ginza has been operating for almost 70 years. This is a simple restaurant located in a narrow alley of high end Ginza area where you can enjoy great Japanese barbecue. The food is good, reasonable price and fast and efficient service. If you prefer izakaya kind of restaurant, this restaurant suits you well. You can drink and have good food in authentic Japanese environment. Ordering shouldn't be a problem since they have menu in English.

Taste:8/10(Good. Their yakitori is the best and I like the tender and flavourful taste of their grilled chicken. The second best is the bacon wrapped asparagus. The way Japanese barbecue their meat is good without any black burning parts. Their Gomoku-Kamameshi kettle pot rice is just average and I would think Malaysian claypot rice taste better. It could be I have not chosen their best kamameshi. I just get to know that their signature kettle pot rice is chicken).
Price:6/10(Moderate. Each stick of barbecue stick priced between 170 Yen to 280 Yen. The kettle pot rice at 990 Yen as we choose the one which contains the most ingredient - Gomoku kamameshi. The meal shown below was about 2,200 Yen per person).

As usual, Japanese restaurant are good at creating actual size food models to attract their customers.

Bacon wrapped asparagus and chicken yakitori.

The bacon wrapped asparagus were delicious.

Tender and juicy chicken yakitori.

Yasai-yaki (Grilled vegetables - Japanese leek, "shishito" green pepper and shiitake mushroom)

Tebasaki-yaki (Grilled chicken wings).

Yasai-yaki and tebasaki-yaki.

Trying their hot sake. Sweet, nice and not too strong.

There is a lucky draw for patron who order their sake. One draw per glass of sake ordered. I got some kind of handphone necklace.

Kettle pot rice.

We ordered Gomoku-Kamameshi. It is kettle pot rice with chicken, bamboo shoot, shiitake mushroom and shrimp toppings.

Tsukune-yaki. Chicken meat balls.

Sunagimo-yaki. Grilled chicken gizzards.

Chicken meat balls and chicken gizzards.

Start with free appetizer. Just a normal cabbage.

Busy restaurant even at around 3.00pm. Maybe it was sunday.

Do take note that there are two Torigin restaurant facing each other. I prefer this one as this is the old shop.

Japanese BBQ at Sumi-ka Yakitori @ SS15 Subang Jaya

Sumi-ka yakitori (Japanese BBQ) has been a while located in SS15 Subang Jaya. This place is not that famous but we noticed that there were many Japanese come to this restaurant for dinner. I requested to sit at near the cooking area so that can view the chef in action. The way the chef cook the yakitori is fun to watch and at the same time, can see how they grill the yakitori to perfection without overcook or undercook.

Taste:8/10(Delicious. Their chicken yakitori and beef ribs are the best. The meat is tender and juicy. Most of the grilled food were fresh, well marinated and not over salty with some smoky flavors).
Price:6/10(Moderate. Chicken yakitori were priced between MYR3.00 to MYR5.00, beef tongue in ponzu sauce at MRY10.00, beef ribs at MYR10.00, sweet potato with butter at MYR8.00, pork slice with oyster at MYR10.00).
