Pau lovers midnight attraction @ Kedai Kopi Ti Ee, Klang

There is a pau stall in Kedai Kopi Ti Ee in Klang which has been operating for almost 40 years. The weird thing is that they don't open during daytime or early evening. They only open from 10.00pm onwards until 2.00am. Located in a coffeeshop at the intersection of Persiaran Raja Muda Musa and Jalan Hilir, this coffeeshop can easily seen. Just opposite the obvious red colour Ambank. Even they only open at 10.00pm, the queue already started earlier than that. Myself has to wait for almost 40 minutes when I arrived at 10.30pm. Their pau does stand out from the rest on the density. Even though their pau looks smaller, but the amount of ingredient in there is very dense and full of flavour. Other than pau, the stall also sells dim sum.

Taste:7/10(Moderate. I like their mushroom pau as it contain generous amount of mushrooms. The taste is good. As for their large pau, the ingredient is quite dense and with much meat. The skin of pau sold here is also thinner. Taste wise is not that great for large pau. Very good portion to fill up hungry person).
Price:4/10(Near expensive. I noticed their price is higher but the pau getting smaller recently and their amount of ingredient is not as good. I certainly won't be queuing that long or travel that far to enjoy the pau. You can get better pau elsewhere in Klang).

Very long queue when arrived at 10.30pm.

Almost there.

Wow, they have so much variety of dim sum. Feel greedy want to buy all after queuing for so long :-)

Check out the famous flavour.

I don't manage to buy their san yuk pau as it was finished when reached my turn!

Large pork bun looks good.

Yummy mushroom pau.

Chicken feet dim sum.

The shop from out side. Remember, Kedai Kopi Ti Ee.

Brought their char siew pau, mushroom pau and large pork pau.

Look at the ingredient. Its quite dense.

Ichiriki Tonkatsu Japanese Restaurant @ The Gardens Midvalley, Kuala Lumpur

Ichiriki is a Japanese restaurant specialize in tonkatsu or pork cutlet. They have a few options of affordable tonkatsu set to choose from. I have chosen their unadon kabayaki and tonkatsu gozen set. The pork is the star here, so as long as you focus on cooked food and not the raw stuff, then this is your right restaurant.

Taste:8/10(Good. I like the tonkatsu served with cabbage and noodles. Meat is tender and not dry. The plum sesame sauce suit very well with tonkatsu. The unagi need improvement as it appear a bit overcooked. The chawanmushi is good).
Price:6/10(Moderate. Unadon kabayaki and tonkatsu gozen set at MYR45.00. The set consist on many items: tonkatsu, unagi, fruit, chawanmushi, pickles, cabbage, miso soup, rice, noodles and plum sesame sauce)

Quite huge and affordable lunch meal.

Mongolian steamboat from Xiao Fei Yang (XFY) Steamboat restaurant @ Damansara Utama, Petaling Jaya

Xiao Fei Yang is a chain restaurant serving spicy ma la style of steamboat. Their soup is delicious and flavourful. They have many ingredients to choose to put into the soup eg sliced mutton, special pork balls, fried fish skin and dumplings. I do enjoy the sauces area where you can mix different kind of sauces and ingredients to eat it with your food. Other than the hidden charges, this place has good food to savour.

Taste:8/10(Good. No doubt that their soup is the main attraction. Do go for combination soup of ma la and herbal soup. In the ma la soup you can eat much of the ingredients and spices there. Good to increase body heat. Make sure to order their fried fish skin and special pork balls).
Price:5/10(Near expensive. Even though their soup is great, they charge MYR24.00 for it. Make sure you drink the soup a lot and finish the ingredient inside there. Also, you may noticed that their bowls, spoons, chopsticks are sealed in a wrapper for hygiene purposes. They charge those wrapper for MYR1.00 each. For me, it's weird that they charge it that way. The tea they charge by the number of person even though we ordered 1 pot. Prices for all the ordered items as below: slices mutton at MYR21.00, sliced pork at MYR14.00, home made pork ball at MYR9.00, fish noodles at MYR8.00, dumplings at MYR8.00 and vegetables at MYR6.00 for each plate).

XFY restaurant.

Combination soup of ma la and herbal soup.

Ordered the following items for our dinner: mutton slices, pork slices, pork balls, vegetables, fish noodles, dumplings & home made pork balls.

This part is most interesting. Creating your own sauce by mixing the available ingredients. Among the ingredients: fermented bean curd, spring onion, garlic, chili, sesame, oil and soy sauce.

My own created sauce.

Fried fish skin.

Sushi Mentai with the tagline of bringing authentic Japanese food to all, offers a variety types of Japanese cuisine at an affordable price. They also have some Malaysian sushi flavour such as spicy chicken floss. They has been expanding aggressively and available in many major cities in Malaysia.

Taste:7/10(Moderate. The taste of sushi is moderate if compared to other premium establishment. You get on what you pay for. The salmon sushi for example is just thin slice of salmon. The grilled salmon with cod roe were good and the tempura is commendable. Chicken floss sushi is something new which taste good as well. Grilled salmon head slight disappointment as some parts were burned and over grilled caused harden fish meat).
Price:7/10(Moderate. Sushi start from MYR1.80 which they labelled as yellow and MYR2.80 for red labelled sushi. Their grilled salmon fish head is cheap. If they can grilled it well, then its perfect. All the meal shown below cost around MYR85.00 including GST. Its cheaper when compared to other Japanese restaurants. Its indeed a satisfying dinner).

Tasty Sabah noodles at Sang Nyuk Noodles @ Subang Jaya

Sang Nyuk noodles house served Kota Kinabalu, Sabah origin noodles. Sang Nyuk means raw meat in cantonese but they serve fully cooked meat. I wondering why they have such name on their shop. I do noticed that they pork meat were cooked just nice which is tender and good. They also have delicious traditional noodles which use their special oyster sauce from Sabah. They also have special chili sauce from Sabah as well which goes well with the pork meat and noodles. The shop have television showing how their noodles were made and prepared. They have signature drink Kit Chai.

Taste:9/10(Delicious. Do order their signature homemade noodles from Sabah dry version. The noodles is tasty and comes with a bowl of pork meat and internals with soup. The soap is tasty as well and meat were tender and flavourful. The noodles is delicious but its not a healthy option as it's loaded with lard oil and soup with fatty pork. I do tried their Sabah rice noodles but the traditional noodles still better).
Price:8/10(Cheap. Dry noodles and bowl of pork goodness at MYR8.90).

Bowl of rice noodles soup with pork meat, pork balls and internals(liver and intestines).

Special rice noodles from Sabah.

Dry version of traditional noodles. The noodles does not have alkaline taste. Do order the dry version of traditional noodles. Its their signature dish.

Looks like normal noodles but its tasty. Its much better than wonton noodles texture.

The dry noodles version comes with a bowl of soup with all the goodness of pork.

Menu. Authentic recipe from Kota Kinabalu Sabah.
