The grilled salmon with cod roe were good and the tempura is commendable. Chicken floss sushi is something new which taste good as well. Grilled salmon head slight disappointment as some parts were burned and over grilled caused harden fish meat).

Delicious Japanese dinner at Jyu Raku @ Subang Jaya

It has been a while that I didn't treat myself with good Japanese meal. Since its Tuesday night, I might as well head straight to Subang Jaya SS15 for a good Japanese dinner. I did tried Jyu Raku previously and I do like their quality of their food especially their dinner sets which comes with sushi. Their sushi were good as the portion of fish meat always cover the rice. This makes their sushi similar to the experience you had it in Japan.

Whale meat dinner at Kujira @ Shibuya, Tokyo

This is my second time visit to this restaurant serving whale meat. It was back in year 2011, that I have tasted whale meat for first time. This time around, I brought my friends who eagerly wanted to try out whale meat at Kujira in Shibuya Tokyo. This time round we ordered many types of whale meat with different cooking method. Kujira is one of the few restaurant in the world which still serving whale meat. Whale meat is very unique as the meat is quite succulent. Japanese believes that eating whale meat can prolong age and looks young. I not sure how true is the claim.

After your dinner, you may take a pamphlet which give justification about eating whale meat. According to the pamphlet, the world is in balance when whale is around as whale consume a lot of fish in the ocean. As a result, the source of fish will be reduced when whale is around. So a controlled whale hunting must be carry on and human should consume whale to control the fish resources in the ocean.

Taste:9/10(Delicious. We ordered sashimi, lightly roasted, teriyaki, fried and tempura whale meat. From all the 5 cooking method, tempura whale meat is the best as the meat is tender and blend well with the batter which gives crispy texture when eaten. The meat structure is tender and succulent when raw and smooth meat without smell when cooked).
Price:5/10(Near expensive. We ordered ala-carte portion of whale meat and choose which type we want to try. The dinner set is not worth it as the menu is fixed and you can't choose what you like to have. We have ordered whale meat in fried 842 Yen, sashimi 950 Yen, tempura 842 Yen, lightly roasted 950 Yen and teriyaki (Japanese sauce) 1058 Yen. Rice at 324 Yen per bowl. The whole dinner cost around 5,300 Yen for two persons).

Sashimi whale meat. This dish is eaten raw. Without smell with some blood taste. The texture is succulent. The white colour tendon is very chewy.

Lightly roasted whale meat. Almost the same as sashimi but slightly cooked.

Teriyaki whale meat. Cooked in Japanese sauce.

Dinner at Kampachi @ Plaza 33, Jaya 33 Petaling Jaya

Kampachi is quite a popular name in Japanese dining in Malaysia. Started as a Japanese restaurant in Equatorial Hotel in Kuala Lumpur, the Kampachi brand name now have total of 7 outlets in Malaysia. The Kampachi outlet in Jaya 33 is the latest addition boasting a seating capacity of 198 persons which features a stylish bar with several unique seating that can be rotated for privacy. Having numerous awards including five time Time Out Kuala Lumpur food awards for Japanese restaurant category does catch my attention to try. Looking thru the menu, there were many options for you to choose. The ingredient are said to be flown fresh from Tsukiji market in Tokyo. The popular meal selection here is omakase which is chef selection and their sunday lunch buffet.

Taste:8/10(Delicious. The soba and chirashi don set taste were good. The sashimi provided were fresh and the soba noodles were spongy and with wheat taste. However the rice does not perfect enough to earn the excellent level of this review. There is also lack of sesame seed to be mixed with soba noodles).
Price:3/10(Expensive. The menu selection were quite expensive. The toro sushi were priced at MYR55.00 which in my opinion is outrageous. The recommended omakase pricing were quite high as well at MYR250 and premium for MYR350. I choose the soba and chirashi don set instead as this is seen as the most reasonable option. This menu offers the mixture of rice, noodles, tempura and sashimi at a price of MYR54.00. I ordered Blushing Maiko cocktail as drink at MYR18.00 per glass. Their cocktail seems more reasonable when compared to their tea which is around the same price for a pot. Its a bit disappointed that this restaurant does not serve free green tea).

Soba and chirashi don set. The chirashi don comes with soft and delicious sashimi and prawn tempura. I chosen the cold soba option. Fruit of watermelon, honeydew, grape and pineapple.

Chirashi don.

Cold soba noodles.

Prawn tempura. Crispy and good.

Blushing Maiko cocktail. This cocktail is a mixture of sake nigori, white rum, grenadine and yuzu. This is a sour, slight sweet and with slight citrus flavour of yuzu cocktail.

Free mushroom appetizer with tomato.

Utensil used for the dinner.

The Japanese chef was busy preparing meals for their customers.
