Lunch set at Marble 8 @ KLCC

Marble 8 is a fine dining restaurant that you can't go on your own without escort :-). In order to access level 56 of Menara 3 Petronas, the restaurant staff will escort you thru the 2 lifts and need to pass by a security check. Marble 8 restaurant interior were quite elegant black. I choose their 4 course meal lunch set which includes an appetizer, pasta, main course and dessert. The pasta portion itself is quite huge and filling.

Taste:8/10(Good. Special mention to their crispy bread as it is very good. The appetizer and pasta are both creamy and tasty. The steak combination were already good but slightly hard. Just wondering of why the recommendation of the steak to be prepared as medium when it should be best on medium rare).
Price:4/10(Near expensive. The price for lunch set is quite reasonable and big portion. You won't get such good price if you were to dine here for dinner. 3-course lunch set at MYR78.00 and 4-course at MYR118.00. Subject to service charge of 10% and tax of 6%)

Grilled black Angus fillet with with cannellini beans, spring onion & beef jus.

The bread and olive condiments is quite tasty.

Dining cutlery.

Burrata cheese with Japanese momotaro tomatoes & asparagus salad.

Oyster Night dinner at Champignons at Oasis @ Ara Damansara

Champignons in Oasis Ara Damansara is a French restaurant serving freshly made french cuisine. Visited them as they have their first oyster night. The food were good and they have many customers looking forward to try their oysters.

Taste:8/10(Good. The oysters were good and quite fresh but the selection is quite limited and small size. The restaurant has wrongly estimate the demand for their oysters and we feel not enough even though we have taken 2 dozens. The first round were ok but second round oysters were small. Truffle chicken breast with risotto mushroom taste great with very tender meat and smooth. Sausages were great as well. A bit disappointing that they only give one lamb sausage on the platter. It should have 2 each).
Price:3/10( Expensive. The oysters at MYR7.00 a piece, truffle chicken breast with risotto rice at MYR45.00, house wine at MYR30.00 and sausage platter at MYR35.00).

I would recommend you to come here to taste their well executed food such as the trufle chicken breast and their homemade sausages. They have a good lunch set deals as well but of course its for other menu.

The size of oysters on first round selection is quite big.

Good house wine.

Nice oysters but selection is quite limited. Second round oysters a bit small and seems not enough for the customers.

Dinner at Thirty8 @ Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur

Came here for dinner to celebrate a friend's birthday. He wanted to try out the THIRTY8 signature cake. At first, I was a bit skeptical on the selection of the cake. However, after tried on it, the cake was indeed very good. The chocolate used is of high quality just like the type used to make Godiva and Royce chocolate. Smooth and rich.

Taste:9/10(Delicious. We ordered beef burger, sushi platter and the signature dessert. All the food were good but special mention to the dessert. Sushi platter were fresh with 11 pieces of premium sushi including toro, horse mackerel, flounder and sea urchin. However, the sea urchin is a bitter type which is not from Japan).
Price:3/10(Expensive. This is a fine dining restaurant with great view of Petronas Twin Towers. Price is expensive here with sushi platter at MYR165, signature cake at MYR60.00 and burger at MYR55.00).

Good lunch set from Lugdunum Bouchon Lyonnais @ Tokyo, Japan

Lugdunum Bouchon Lyonnais is a good French restaurant with one Michelin star serving Lyon style French cuisine. Nice atmosphere and a lovely place to spend a few hours to dine here. The lunch is reasonably priced and quite good. I choose their Le Menu du Déjeuner which comes with an appetizer, main dish and dessert plus coffee.

Taste:9/10(Delicious. All the 3 dishes that I ordered are quite good. Special mention to Quenelles of Lyon served with Nantua sauce which taste like lobster sauce and very good. The meal is quite filling as well. Salad with bacon were tasty and for dessert, the praline tart does standout. I can taste the hazelnut paste. As for the snow egg, there is chopped hazelnuts on top of the meringue. The meringue floats on top of cream and its so light and dissolved the moment I put it into my mouth).
Price:4/10(Near expensive. The 3 course set lunch meal at 2950 Yen).

Lyon style salad served with a cake of pig’s ears

Nice baguette bread.

French dining at Topshelf @ Taman Tun Dr Ismail, Kuala Lumpur

Topshelf is a French restaurant located in Taman Tun Dr Ismail, Kuala Lumpur. Always wanted to try out this place but don't have chance until the Christmas eve night when I happen to be there with my mom. The food were good and some dishes above expectation. This is a nice and cosy restaurant. You can see the chef in action as the kitchen just behind a glass wall.

Taste:9/10(Delicious. I like two of their dishes the most. The pan seared salmon belly and mushroom soup with truffle. Both are well done and taste very good. As for the crispy aromatic duck, its not that crispy but the meat is tender. Taste wise is good with combination with the sauce and vegetables. The dessert of dark chocolate mousse is creative and well thought).
Price:3/10(Expensive. Since this is a fine dining restaurant, the price is at a higher side. Salmon belly at MYR30.00, mushroom soup with truffle at MYR25.00, pan seared catch of the day at MYR44.00, dark chocolate mousse at MYR26.00 and crispy aromatic duck at MYR38.00. Service and environment in the restaurant is good. One item which I think that they need to improve is that they don't provide plain water as drink option. They trying to lure their customer to drink their pricey mineral water. Its a bit let down for foodie who come here for food and plain water is the most basic necessity that each restaurant should provide either for free or with a small fee. The food selection were not many during Christmas eve as they have predefined set menu).

Nice and cosy environment.

Common sight in fine dining restaurant.

Hot chocolate.

Crispy aromatic duck served with pancakes, raw cucumber and sweet sauce.

Pan seared catch of the day with leeks, fennel barigoule and white wine.

Bartender area.

Pan seared salmon belly. The texture is so good and it melts in your mouth. Full of fish oil.

Mushroom soup with truffles.

Dark chocolate mousse with lemon meringue, passion fruit and chocolate mouse.

Good but unimpressive festive dinner set by Skillet@163 at Fraser Place, Kuala Lumpur

Skillet@163 which is located in Fraser Place in Kuala Lumpur has been operating for less than a year and started to gain reputation of serving good food among food bloggers. I like their concept of serving fine food without the need of formal/casual dressing and tablecloths. I was actually came here to try out their braised Australian brisket, full set of chicken mile-feuille and their famous chocolate dessert. Unfortunately, both brisket and chicken mile-feuille was not available as they have different set of ala carte meal for festive season. I took their festive Christmas set instead as to try out something new. Their festive Christmas set will be available until 1st Jan 2016. Service here were fast and good. The waiters did explain the techniques and the ingredients used on each meal. I do recommend to come here to try out their ala carte main course and pick what you want but not their dinner set menu. Need to be selective in the appetizer and dessert as well as not all is good.

Taste:8/10(Good. There was one menu that I tried here worth "excellent" rating. The main course 36 hours wagyu beef cheek was excellent with unthinkable combination of traditional chinese fermented beans "nam yu". It is one of the best beef that I tasted so far. The "nam yu" slight sweetness and fragrant did enhance the taste of the tender juicy wagyu beef. However, the dinner was not completely flawless. The soft shell prawn was a bit soggy as it may have soaked the water from compressed watermelon at the bottom of the dish. Signature mile feuille is good but the portion is rather small. I was expecting this meal to be full which also comes with asparagus and potato ball? The otak-otak were tasty and suits well with percik sauce. Dessert of peanut butter, banana and black sesame is just average).

Price:2/10(Expensive. Their festive 2015 set menu did have a high price tag of MYR220 exclude 10% service charge. The food portion were small and not enough for big eater. I would recommend to order their ala carte instead. I was expecting their promoted 5 course dinner set should contain their best dish such as their pan seared scallop, braised Australian brisket in chocolate and good chocolate dessert, but unfortunately it's not the case here. In my case, they served me with their peanut butter, banana and black sesame which is not their best dessert and mile-feuille in reduced portion. Also they don't accept Amex card as payment. As a restaurant in a hotel with many tourist, they should consider to accept Amex card).

The meal start off with an amuse bouche of salmon. Its tasty.

Next is butter and bread. The butter with slightly sourish lime.

Soft shell prawn. Soggy prawn and parmesan cracker. Compressed watermelon, lychee jelly, parmesan crisps and balsamic caviar.

Nice presentation.

The signature mile-feuille is Malaysian taste style but presented like European dish.

Juicy chicken otak-otak with cashew soil, acar and percik sauce.

Wild mushroom consomme. Very tasty soup with porcini mushroom flavour and delicious cheese tortellini.

The best dish out of 5 course menu. Its 36 hours wagyu beef cheek. "Nam yu" braised wagyu beef cheek, celeriac puree, honey glazed winter root vegetables, pickled shallot and ginger soil.

Tasty and nicely done beef.

Peanut butter, banana and black sesame. In the menu, its just mentioned Skillet's Christmas dessert. In my opinion, they should state what will they serve not up to their discretion. It can be anything here.

Anyway nicely decorated dessert. However, not able to taste the chocolate dessert which the chef supposed to be good at.

Mignardises. Christmas chocolate. Rich and bitter chocolate.

Wide variety of liquor and cocktail available here.

Cosy and nice environment.

Christmas decoration and best European food award from Timeout Kuala Lumpur.

Nice view from upstairs.

Relax area upstairs.
